The Story ════ ⋆★⋆ ════ Killy is a man of few words. He drags himself through countless "levels" inside the giant labyrinth of concrete and steel in which he exists. Armed with an extremely powerful gun, he will fight with any futuristic aberration to achieve his goal, to find the Net Terminal Gene. The story of BLAME! is pretty good. I do admit that the story can get very confusing because of the complexity of the world. There are many "factions" and pieces of information that keep changing, but that doesn't affect the general pacing as the objective will always be to find the Net Terminal Gene. There's a fair amount of violence and horror in this manga. People get dismembered, decapitated, burnt, and much more. Everything is done fairly well; it doesn't feel like your average battle shonen, but rather something more crude and complex.════ ⋆★⋆ ════
The Art Style ════ ⋆★⋆ ════ The art style is ridiculously good. I'll start by addressing the negative side. Human faces are terrible in my opinion; there's a massive gap in between the eyes without the drawing of nose bridges, and that looks terrible. But, that's the author's style (Check Abara), and after a few chapters, you do get used to it.
(Fish Face)Now addressing what makes this work absurd in art style: I've never seen such a beauty when creating backgrounds. Perspectives, tones, shadows, and pretty much everything else is beautiful! The world construction is worthy of a masterpiece.
(Click here for higher res)Another absurd point is character design. Every enemy is very unique. They have an amazing horrific aura and you just really feel each enemy.

The Characters ════ ⋆★⋆ ════ There are a small number of characters in this work. Killy has one companion, and there are a few supporting characters. They're not overly developed, but the mystery goes well with the chaotic world. As I always like to talk about main characters, Killy was a good main character. His silent but competent vibe mixes well with everything. He felt to me like Gutts with a gun.
