A Wholesome, Easy-Watch Show
Spy x Family, is a very easy to watch show. With 12 episodes, each around 24 minutes you can easily pass time by watching this show without feeling bored and having the need to look away. Generally speaking, this show for me is a Grade 10 or 100% as it fulfils all criteria. The criteria will be listed below:
Great Characters: This show manages to demonstrate growth among it's 3 main leads, Loid Forger, Yor Forger, and Anya Forger where each of them throughout the 12 episodes show their individuality, through character and personality. Loid [Code Name Twilight] starts off reserved and a bit cold-hearted, however as the show continues on we can find he growing a bit of a heart. Although he still remains within the mindset of the mission he begins to demonstrate his caring-ness for his adopted family. Yor [Assassin name: Thorn Princess] is shown to be gentle and kind and yet has a violent, and somewhat evil side to her. Although her job involves her killing people she demonstrates through the episodes how she can be a caring mother to Anya, and a kind and convenient counterpart to Loid. And Anya, the telepathic child remains somewhat the same through the episodes, however this gives her a much more genuine feel as she is a child and children grow in bursts. Although, Anya in the final two episodes of season one (Ep: 11 and 12) begins to see how she can use her telepathic powers to save and help others.
Easy to watch: Unlike many shows, Spy x Family remains a wholesome watch for all, which adds to it's 'easy to watch' factor. You can sit there and smile or giggle each time Anya has one of her realizations about her adoptive family, and giggle in happiness when you see them grow as a family. This enables the viewer to be able to easily sit their and enjoy the antics of the family, and sit in hopes to see them flourish and achieve world peace.
Short but Sweet: Each episode manages to pack just the right amount in there. Even though the average anime episode length is 24 minutes, just like this show's episode duration, the episodes don't feel jam packed with material. Each episode feels like a sitcom which is a great new feeling for anime. You can see a new adventure being taken up in each episode with family/character growth in each. The episodes leave you wanting to see more, without feeling that you were in over your head or didn't get enough.
In short, Spy x Family is a great show to watch and is highly recommended for both new, and seasoned anime fans. It feels new and it doesn't feel like too many anime tropes are being followed, and it is just purely entertaining and wholesome. The love and caring you feel from the family whilst aided with the suspense of their adventures really gives the viewer a very enjoyable experience.
