I don't even know where to begin, honestly this anime is amazing. This is about a world where humans live alongside Giftias, which are androids with artificial souls that are so human like that you cant tell the difference between the two. however, there is one downside to them. Giftias only live for approximately 9 years before the retrieval department will come and take the Giftia away, completely destroy it at rip apart the memories, feeling and identity of eventually each and every Giftia.
Tsukasa is an 18 year old who has wondered into the retrieval service as a new employee with not a clue about his job and how eventful his future will be. the retrieval service works in pairs, one person being a spotter and the other being a marksman. Tsukasa gets paired up with a Giftia by the name of Isla, becoming her spotter and from there their future unfolds.
The opening, ring of fortune is absolutely beautiful, the vocals and everything is so well put together and it really catches the feels of the anime. the animation was also done really well and it captures the feelings of the characters so nicely.
the actual art style of the anime is stunning. Especially the backgrounds like the sunsets and the fireworks scene, it's so realistic and really pretty for the eyes to see. The characters are designed so well, each with their own distinct looks the are unique to them, I especially love the designs of Michiru and Isla.
the way this anime portrays emotions through each event is just mind blowing. Whenever there was something sad like when Isla and Tsukasa's partnership was dissolved, my screen was literally radiating sadness. And the way they make Isla and Tsukasa's love life seem so awkward at first is really fitting, because it's their first relationship, it's not meant to be perfect they're supposed to get nervous. It broke my heart whenever they went to retrieve a Giftia, each one had it's own unique story with it's owner and the way their memories were just torn apart was just devastating.
Michiru just defines tsundere and I just find it so funny because she keeps trying to help Tsukasa and Isla secretly whilst making sure no one finds out and then you have evil Zack who just exposes all her plans.
What tore me apart though completely was Isla's retrieval. I grew so attached to her due to her amazing characterization and watching all her memories get torn apart i just can't :((
overall, this is an amazing tear jerking anime with such amazing morals, a beautifully done storyline, amazing character design and bakgrounds and a really really good build up I highly recommend it.
