Love after world domination is about a forbidden love story between a hero maintaining world peace and a villain with plans to dominate the world. Judging from that description how is it possible for such a premise to make sense let alone not conflict with each of the character's ideologies? It doesn't and it is clear from the very first episode that the direction and tone of the series does not care. It is a romance plot based on an absurd comedy setting.
The first few episodes focuses on the adventures or mischief of the main lovers and really got me invested in the goofy dynamic of these different yet similar personalities. (They are hero and villain but share the same brain cells)
Almost every character introduced has a quirky, lovable idiot aspect to them. These characters are gradually introduced after the initial few episodes to keep the story fresh by introducing several more goofy personalities which leads to several more goofy scenarios. These characters include the 'bad guys' on the villain side of the story which gives me an slight subversion of expectation of the 'evil people'. Note I use quotations when describing the 'bad guys' because as explained before this series does not take anything seriously and even though they are supposed to be the 'bad guys' they are portrayed in such a parodic and absurd level you cannot take it seriously and it is meant to be that way. So there should not be any worry regarding serious moral conundrums of supporting this love despite one of them is 'evil'.
In terms of animation it is pretty average even the once every couple of episode 'fight' scenes are acceptable I guess. I will not nitpick on this because I love this not for the action, I love it because of how funny and lovable the two idiot main lovers are. What they really excel at is definitely the colors which are joyful and vibrant absolutely fitting the mood of the entire series. Another thing they absolutely excel at are the still shots on endearing moments that really makes me go awwww....
The voice acting especially for the 'villain' main character really stands out. She really sells her aloofness and non-nonchalant attitude towards being a literal lieutenant in an organization intending to rule the world. Which again for me sells the absurdity of this wacky premise and does not for a second makes me even want to question the realism of it making me really hooked on the comedy and the cute romance.
I believe the series wrapped up pretty nicely in 12 episodes and even though the manga is ongoing I honestly cannot find any more ways they can milk this premise any further. I am happy to be proven wrong nonetheless.
I recommend this to anyone that loves romcoms because this is a romcom that really push the limits of an absurd premise and I love it.
