There's like only two stories with something close to a "happy ending". I'm not always into happy endings as long as they make sense, so while those two happy endings are very fucked up, the one I was cheering for won. There was one that seemed to have and ended with a twist.
The one in the cover is one of the "happy endings". Although both girls were shitty. And really, none got a happy life, winning or losing is a tad useless when
Anyway, the mangaka did some chilling stories. The mark of their stories are their fucked up evil looking children and the way they cry like puking through all holes of their faces. Drawing nasty stuff is important for horror, gory or not.
If you disliked the first story (where the girl drags the classmates to find out about her life when young and finds her life is a lie,
The saddest is the seventh story lol imagine
The second story is also a bit disappointing but very chilling. You wake up seeing weird stuff by the side of your girlfriend, then one day
Third is... fucked up. You get a spoiler the boy is fucked up with the skulls in the cover, the girl comes back after years, he made a whole pretty base under the place and doesn't think to explain "hey, those things we fought to save Earth? they are real.
Fourth, the girl really puts effort in avoiding the little imps!!! And then her mom lets them in, feeds them and tells her to bring them back to their home, her "little friends". Why, woman. Why. Don't. Just Don't.
Fifth, the tower. You thought they would live, she would die with her friend? Sorry there. Lots of content warning about suicide, at least adjacent heavily.
Sixth, spider girl who traumatizes all children in school with spiders inside everyone's favorite teacher. But it has a happy ending!!!!! Too bad for fat girlie though, she did her best.
:)
Content warning: spiders and people dying from spiders. Please don't take animals and insects from their homes and habitats no matter how much you love them, if you wanna breed spiders and snakes in humans just bring the humans there, gee.
Seventh, fucked up, I have to admire that the trans woman who was hypnotized manages to be the only hypnotized person who's still in touch with reality, it's not exactly trans friendly by the guy's words but it was almost nice. Gotta get my trans rep friendly somehow, amiright. If you are easily dysphoric though, avoid this story, honestly, at least from after the protag's brother dies.
Eight...... Eh. Pretty girl fights against ugly girl (she's fat and full of balls on her face, dunno if that's acne?? girl, is that chickenpox or something, go to a doctor), both of them orphans and really really evil, pretty girl thinks killing dogs is a "childish prank" from how much evil they are. The orphanages warns the "adopters" from the first girl lmao they are like "you know she's the worst right". Anyway.
It has a lot of effort and a dirty style, it's not super clean pages. Kinda like some Junji Ito's manga. it's not cute either. If you want a(n actual) happier ending, try another manga. The mangaka's siblings manga ends somewhat happily and is the same style.
