If you are a fan of Jun Maeda's works, then surely you know or have heard about "Charlotte" a series that promises emotion, action, drama etc... I come to criticize this Anime analyzing its strengths and weaknesses and whether it is recommended or not.
___
"SYNOPSIS"
The story centers around the special abilities that occur among a small percentage of boys and girls in puberty. Yuu Otosaka uses his power without others knowing, and lives a fairly normal, average school life. Before him suddenly appears a girl, Nao Tomori. Due to his meeting with her, the fate of special power-users will be exposed.
___
"CONTEXT, PLOT & DEVELOPMENT"
Charlotte puts us in context of what life is like for students who have superpowers, how they deal with their daily problems without being affected by their conditions. At first the Anime may seem slow due to the explanation of its entire world, characters and their motivations, but that is why it is an introduction to everything that is to come. If you got far with the work, you will surely have noticed the change of direction that the series takes with the various situations that happen to the protagonist and various conflicting emotions such as love, sacrifice and taking responsibility for their actions. This is a slightly different "Shounen", not that you see antagonists everywhere, but they want to give you a new concept.
In conclusion, I felt that the series took a long time to "start".
___
"REVIEW"
Like any Anime, this one has its weak points, as I mentioned before the work takes some plot twists but in a very simple and little elaborate way, this does not change until the final episodes where the series reaches its peak, in addition to the "Antagonists" so to speak, are presented in a not very pleasant way and having so many plot changes causes the introduction of new characters, places, situations and all this summarized in 13 minutes that can lead to a feeling of forgetting what we have seen and confusion. As for characters, the one who experiences the greatest change is our protagonist Yuu Otosaka, who is initially shown to us as someone arrogant, selfish and tricky; who in the end ends up becoming the hero who sacrifices himself for others; this is fine for adding “motion” to the story. As I have already mentioned, the story begins slowly and can be a bit confusing at times, but as the episodes go by, as well as at the end, the series manages to solve this to a great extent and becomes more enjoyable.
___
Ending the review, on the subject of Animation and Music I have no complaints, I really liked the selection of songs and soundtrack of the series, it goes according to it, and the Animation is nice and concise.
To conclude, it is not a bad Anime, it started slowly and a bit confusing but as the episodes go by these aspects are fixed and the characters develop and give them more prominence, I do recommend it and I hope you enjoy it.
