The plot of Boruto builds off of the ending of Naruto, making its unresolved plot points feel smoother and, slowly but surely, questions about their greatest foe are being answered, and new ones arrive to take their place. It's such an engaging story and the slow reveal of details that were lacking from Kishimoto's original series are awesome to see. Sure, the direction of the story may not be for some people, but the important thing is that it feels like a natural continuation with a new generation of shinobi to see things through - which is a theme that should be new to nobody seeing as we got four generations of shinobi shown to us in Naruto, each passing on the will of fire to their successors. The art is also overhated way, way too much. Yes, some of the early chapters can be a little shaky, but Ikemoto rapidly improved with time and even the early action scenes look absolutely beautiful. Overall it's doing amazing and I cannot wait to read more! The perfect continuation of Naruto's legendary quest to become hokage.
The newest arc (Code) has been divisive among the fans. Some like me think it has a lot of awesome potential, while others, sometimes understandably, think things are getting too out-of-hand in the Boruto universe. I can see some of that to an extent, but the story can't stay in the same place forever, and nor can the power levels. Just like Naruto started off with simple shuriken jutsu and evolved to S-tier ninjutsu, Boruto's world too is evolving, in ways we never could have imagined, and, for me, that's something exciting to look forward to. For fans of more traditional Naruto content, two of the light novels have received manga adaptions. Naruto Shinden and Sasuke Retsuden have been excellent so far, and definite feel closer to Naruto than Boruto, if that's what you're more interested in.
