If you saw my earlier review, no you didn't. Gaslight gatekeep girlboss except im not a girl
Note: The first 5 girlfriends and any information about them (that's revealed before the 6th girlfriend's arc) will not be marked as spoilers. (Unless the information involves later girlfriends, or isn't revealed until later in the manga).
The cast (as of right now):
(The girls and Rentarou refer to themselves as a family. They're not actually related.*)
Aijou Rentarou: Our protagonist. An absolute love monster. You can even tell from his name, which is written with two kanji that mean love. He's not like other harem protagonists, where he's the most mediocre motherfucker on earth but somehow has bitches for days. Rentarou puts in insane amounts effort for his girlfriends. Even before he got his first (two) girlfriend(s), he still put in a lot of effort to be liked by his crushes. Examples of him putting in effort include: (This is very long and has hella spoilers, you've been warned)
Hanazono Hakari: Her first name is said the same as calculating (in Japanese, not English duh), which one of the two words I'd use to describe her. The other is "horny." She's good at coming up with plans to get Rentarou or one of the other girls to do something. Her favorite schemes seem to be "mwhehehe" schemes, where she flaunts her sex appeal to Rentarou. Very close with Karane,
Inda Karane: Karane is the most tsundere dere to ever tsun this planet. She and Hakari started dating Rentarou at the same time. She's one of the strongest in the group, it's stated that she's broken Rentarou's bones on numerous occasions, even putting him in the hospital one time (she performs some act of physical violence against him pretty much every chapter). She's the resident straight man of the family and about cares everyone. She's "flat" (since when is an A-cup flat?) and quite insecure about it. Very close with Hakari.
Yoshimoto Shizuka: Her first name means 'quiet', which she is, due to having an anxiety disorder called selective mutism. As someone who struggles with selective mutism, I immediately loved her character. She's a bookworm, her last name means something along the lines of "good book". Before her text-to-speech era she used her favorite book to communicate, since she had memorized it and knew where each line was. Everyone in the family thinks she is very cute. They're all cute, but being very cute is kind of her thing. I think this comes from the fact that she is very shy and unable to speak up for herself, like . Close with Nano.
Eiai Nano: Eiai sounsd like A.I., as in artificial intelligence. Basically, she's a robot. Not literally, but she might as well be. Super smart and super pretty. A bit obsessed with efficiency. Used to thinking logically, so she's still learning how to include her emotions in her decision making. Shizuka seems to bring out her affectionate side.
Yakusen Kusuri: 18 years old, but she looks 8. This is due to a failed attempt at making an immortality drug. (She mentions this in like the first chapter she appears) Her drugs aren't the normal kind, they do things like give people animal ears, make people switch bodies, turn people into kissing zombies, let people see infrared lights with the naked eye, make 18 year olds look like 8 year olds*, and melt flesh. Close with everyone in the family.
(The rest of the girls will be added here, I'm still working on their sections.)
Story: no over-arching plot. Most chapters are the family hanging out together on the school roof. In the background of each chapter you can see the girls hanging out with each other. Every once in a while there's a chapter focusing on a few specific girlfriends. There's a lot of debauchery within the family. Each girl has an "initiation" of sorts, ranging from having lunch together to kissing zombies to
Cuteness: 1000/10. Not just the girls (as in their looks) but also the way they interact with each other.
Art: Very cute, occasionally erotic. (I assume. I'm gay so I don't usually think of things involving women as erotic).
Humor: Very funny. There's an overwhelming lack of common sense within the family.
