The psycho-helmet saga was a nice consistency in the series from the beginning. Dimple's realization of what he truly ideals was spot-on to genuine human thoughts, and his friendship with Mob throughout the series has reflected a natural progression of some friendships while mirroring Reigen at the same time. His fallacious ideals conflicted with what he really wanted, which he did not know. He just... lived, searching for what he wanted, or thought he wanted, like many of us do. Him questioning himself and what he truly wants, finding his own resolution, and working towards it with the final battle against the divine tree. That was beautiful.
Lest I forget to mention how dazzling that fight was, which consisted of more than 20,000 hand-drawn frames. Even until the final episode, the animation quality was consistently stunning from beginning to end, and even Reigen's power run in the final episode was animated beautifully.
Reigen's confession can seem silly, but considering the history, even though Mob did realize that Reigen's lying, Reigen humbling himself and confessing to his misdeeds truthfully towards Mob tends to the wounds caused by him. People often hate those who lie, but when liars confess to their lies and apologize, they can often forgive them, as opposed to calling them out on their lies. As someone who has lied to others about my identity often, then confessed it, that was really, really beautiful and extremely well done.
Since I began this series, I always expected 'the hidden percentage' to be some mystical creature living inside of Mob, the source of his abundant power, and one day it will come out and that will be a great adversity for Mob and the gang. How wrong I was... although technically not.
But ah, I am so glad I was so wrong. In the end, the monster was none other than Mob's trauma and self-doubt, his conflictions with himself and his powers, which we have seen him question many times throughout the series as he continued to grow. Watching Mob Psycho has led me to question many things about myself as well, and it caused me to find some answers I've been dying to.
Like I mentioned prior, I once lied much- too much about who I am, and Reigen's arc in season 2 was the final push that I needed to face who I wasn't and become who I am.
I am very glad I started watching this series as a teenager. Overall, ONE has touched on many social aspects of humans that many of whom suffer from, including I, and seeing it communicated and expressed so beautifully and thoughtfully has been both fulfilling and enjoyable. Thank you for this beautiful series, ONE.
