Having now finished this anime there’s a lot of things I wanna say. Not sure how to put it all together but here’s my attempt: Mob Psycho 100 is a story of the human condition. It’s a story of growing up and trying to find yourself in a world of wild and wonderful people. Mob Psycho 100 is about standing out in a crowd and understanding what makes you special while simultaneously knowing that in a way none of us are “special” in comparison to others. That in a way we are all average people. About using what we have to make a difference to the people around you instead of letting it absorb you or making you feel entitled. About not relying on the easy way out all the time. Mob Psycho 100 is about seeing that behind their flaws many people are truly wonderful. Whether you’re a con man or the most popular kid at school. Mob Psycho 100 is about the need for humanity to care for one another and to sometimes understand that behind all our aspirations and goals that all we truly need is someone standing there with us by our side through it all. That just maybe all we needed was a friend. Mob Psycho 100 is about coming to healthy terms with your emotions and not bottling them up inside you. Mob Psycho 100 is about knowing that it’s okay to run away and find an alternative. Mob Psycho 100 is about knowing every side of you. Mob Psycho 100 is about understanding that above all else that your life is your own and you are here to write your story. Mob Psycho 100 is a piece of media that has connected with me in a way no other thing has in my life. It’s a beautifully animated , incredibly well written, vibrant and full world. I can say that despite it being a Shōnen about Psychic powers that it has some of the best characterization and character progression I’ve seen in anything ever. Despite its outlandish concept everything the characters do and how they grow feels so natural and grounded. Even though what brings this growth could be facing off against an evil division of superpowered psychics or taking down a legion of broccoli men. Reigen Arataka, Shigeo Kageyama, and Dimple may be some of my favorite characters in just about anything ever. Reigen’s charisma and inherent con man nature, Mob’s journey to understand himself, Dimple’s struggle for power, it’s all so well done and makes me love these characters all the more. Almost every character in this show is someone I grew to understand and enjoy seeing as the episodes passed and everyone became their better selves. Reigen especially is someone you may look at as just the sexy man funny guy but behind his charismatic nature is someone who struggles with finding his true talent too. But despite how he runs his business you understand that at his core he’s an incredibly kind man. As a central character I connected with Mob in several occasions about struggles I dealt with and still deal with in finding out who I am or where I belong. To the point where the show brought me to tears several times for all sorts of differing reasons. The show builds an over-arching story with things like the organization Claw and Mob’s mysterious Psychic powers but at the center of this show it’s absolutely the characters that shine which I’m all about if you couldn’t tell. The special moments they all have together and the memories they create. There is literally no detail in the anime you won’t see get some pay off or call back in some way shape or form. The attention to detail and care Studio Bones gave this show is flat out incredible in every aspect. If you want some absolutely badass Shōnen fights, some wonderful special lads to care for, just simply some of the most beautiful animation I have laid my eyes on, and an overall touching and human story to invest yourself in I highly recommend Mob Psycho 100. I can say that if you never watch this show you’re truly doing yourself no favors. Thank you for creating this story ONE. It’s the closest I can say any media has ever gotten to genuinely changing my life.
