THIS REVIEW CONTAINS SPOILERS FOR BOTH THE S2 AND THE MANGA
I'll say it straight up. Tokyo Revengers was an experience. Even though i binged it in a few days, the characters were really likable and the plot introduced a new challenge to the time travel genre, with Takemitchi only being able to time travel back by exactly 12 years. This brought up a new problem with the fact that if anyone in the past dies, they can't be saved. And this somehow perfect premise gets ruined because of those final chapters.
Before i get to the characters, i NEED to bring up the main reason how this series ruined itself and the main reason i'm writing this review. Chapter 277. Chapter 277 is one of THE chapters of all time. I don't have to say anything else.
By having Takemitchi time travel to when he was a kid, erasing basically ALL OF THE PLOT THAT HAD HAPPENED THROUGH THE SERIES, you could easily see the series taking a turn for the worse. The Kanto Manji arc was finally building up to be something great then it got ruined. All the relationships he had through the series, his relationship with Chifuyu and majority of the cast just goes to dust and his old friends from the beginning of the series just disappear.
There isn't much to talk about with the art but at times it can be good though the giraffe necks get out of hand at times. The manga's 2 page spreads are great though.
This part is what i want to get in-depth about. Starting with the main character himself, Takemitchi. Though many people hate him for always crying, i feel as if he's probably one of if not the best thing in the manga itself. Unlike other mc's he knows and admits that he's weak yet always seems to have the durability to withstand attacks and always refuses to give up. His personality and will is just amazing and they were mostly an enjoyable mc though they seemed to love mikey.
As for Mikey himself, i can't really say the same. At first, he's shown to be a likeable character that the gang depends on, but later on in the series, things take a turn for the worse to the point it gets annoying. I was pretty mad when i found out that the "darkness inside him" (which was already dumb enough on its own) ended up being caused because of a toy plane breaking. A toy plane. He gains the random urge to murder people because of a toy plane. That alone was the turning point for me though he kind of redeems himself in the final arc.
As much of a journey this series was for me, a time has to come where it needs to end. Like many other manga, Wakui decided to stretch his plot for as long as humanely possible causing this monstrosity. I realy enjoyed it and it has many good points but somehow the ending ruined it so such a high degree that this review happened.
TL,DR: Tokyo Revengers should've ended at the Kisaki Arc.
