Attack On Titan starts out with humanity fighting to survive against man-eating titans and takes an unexpected turn depicting slavery and the persecution of an entire race.
Main Protagonist and Antagonist Eren Yeager, made the choice to sacrifice his humanity to protect Armin, Mikasa, and his friends.
Attack On Titan is a beautiful example of how to cleverly place intricate foreshadowing that you didn't know was important. Because of this, the story flowed smoothly and kept its integrity to the very end. It's a very straightforward series when it all ties together at the end and doesn't leave any loose ends.
Arguably one of the best series of its time and deserves a higher place in the ratings.
Eren is such a good character I’m always in awe that he exists. He’s so beautifully written.
With this, it's clear that he saw his memories of the future in that dream. Eren in the Future sent those memories to his past self. This is foreshadowed a second time in Chapter 89 when Eren Kruger said this to Grisha.
"If you can't, we're doomed to repeat it all again. The same history. The same mistakes. Again and again. If you want to save them all... Mikasa and Armin and the others... carry on your mission to the end."
Armin and Mikasa didn't exist then so it's very clear that Eren Kruger could see those future memories, just like Eren's younger self could on the fall of Wall Maria. At the time we didn't understand how it was possible they could see the future. We had only known so far that shifters inherit past memories. Eren sent those memories. When Kruger said that the Grisha it sounded like something Eren would say. He wanted to prevent history from repeating itself, protect his loved ones, and carry his mission to the end that will have the best possible outcome. When he encountered Dina's Titan he was crying saying he never changed and he's useless.
He's driven by a purpose to a terrifying level, and for him to feel useless shows that he is shouldering everything on himself and feels responsible for every life he couldn't save.
Mikasa was there to reassure him that he wasn't and show him he was her hero. Giving him the courage to continue.
Their love story is so tragic and beautiful and really shows that the world is a cruel place.
Mikasa was sitting by Eren's headstone a bird came up and wrapped her scarf around her neck. That bird would later be revealed as a Parasitic Jaeger. The symbolism of Eren always being there and striving for freedom.
Eren's the type that will sacrifice himself without hesitation. If he didn't have his Titan powers he would have died from picking a fight with a sewer rat but somehow he can kill two grown men by himself.
But when it comes to kids his age Mikasa has to kick their asses for him.
It's no wonder no one knew he was dangerous because those bullies never did anything so bad as to deserve death. To them, he looked like an angry kitten.I never expected Eren would commence The Rumbling and commit mass genocide. No one did. It's unfathomable, even to Eren.
Eren wanted to save everyone he could but he couldn't. and with the entire world declaring war on Paradis, He had no choice but to commence The Rumbling and kill all those that would try to take their freedom, including innocent civilians. Why would he apologize randomly to a civilian in Marley? Knowing he would do The Rumbling. Simply he didn't want to do it.
He strived for freedom so badly that when he mentally couldn't handle the anguish anymore and made his own headspace to escape from it all. This was a very nice touch because it's been proven when the mind goes beyond what it can handle it will protect itself
He maniacally laughed aloud and cried to himself when Sasha was killed, he was grieving that he couldn't change that future.
Eren is a perfect example of an anti-hero.The art as well improves over time so beautifully. You can see the hard work and the detail put into the panels.
No matter how many times I read Attack On Titan, I cry my heart out. I'm still saddened to see it end. AOT will always have a special place in my heart.
100/100 All across the board
