I love this anime so much, rating it is the first thing I did when I created my account ehehe. Anyways...
It's too beautiful... [Your Lie in April] is my faveeeee anime that I try to watch every April (yes I haven't tired of it yet and I get bored of things easily so that's saying something) and something I have yet to see anything surpass.

The hidden meaning behind the title is very unexpected so don't watch the anime expecting to need to figure it out— you'll just hurt your head (I learnt that the hard way).
The emotion imparted in the music is deep and the plot is moving, with a perfect ending that wraps up the story well (IMO obviously).

It's poetic in its own way, and sort of realistic too— not everything works out for the best and we don't always get what we wish for or deserve. Sure, it's tragic but like I like tragedy~ ;)
I really like classical music so I like (I swear I'm not biased) how this anime decided to focus on it and bring the topic of remaking/ preserving music as it once was, something I really do struggle with back when I took music exams as well. I like how they portrayed

different interpretations on how to play a piece through visualization, even if the showing in differences was quite brief (I think? It's been a while since I last watched it) but I think it conveys well to many different people how musicians see things. Plus, did you know they actually animated the CGI for the piano correctly and accurately in some parts???!! I mean I don't play all the songs they showed in the anime since they're not the type I play but I watched some (probably credible?) videos on it and the animators did put a lot of effort— it's very accurate for the most part! (I can at least confirm for the twinkle duet with the kid, I really liked how Kaori's voice actor said
Twinkuru ehehe).

the story is painful, with a tragic open ending (so many people dislike open endings for some reason, but seriously when they're done right they're amazing, which is what Shigatsu wa kimi no Uso did, but I digress) but I really liked how they handled trauma and overcoming it, especially how they chose to let MC overcome it in the end. Ultimately, this story is about growing up and accepting yourself for all you are, so I have to admit this did influence me quite a bit during my teenage years.
If you're looking for something with a lot of plot-twists and unexpected stuff, this may not be the best one for you BUT if you're looking for something with good plot + good atmosphere + nice little comedic moments + coming-of-age, then yes this is the top choice IMHO since it's brilliant when you look at it as a sum of its parts.
Also, side note, this anime makes me wish I forced my bro to learn the violin instead of the piano like me when he first got into music so I coulda had an epic moment like Kousei did with Kaori....
