A woman finds herself as a princess in a book who is doomed to die at the hands of her father. She tries to earn his love to change her terrible fate.
This story was okay. Not bad but not very good either. The plot was average, but of course, the art was most definitely amazing. Kudos to Spoon, the artist, for their amazing artwork.
One thing I adored was the relationship between Athanasia and her cousin, Jennette. Honestly, it's rare for me to see stories with two female characters in a manhwa that get along well and aren't always fighting over a male ? [I heard that in the web novel, Jennette was a more evil character. I'm not sure if this is true but still, I'm genuinely happy that this was changed in the manhwa version because I love her so much and would've hated it if she were a villain instead of the pure-hearted girl she is now.]
While Jennette has my heart, I, unfortunately, can not say the same for the female lead's father, Claude. He has good looks, that is indeed most obvious lol but as for personality…well that is a very different case.
He is a tyrant, and even though he has his sweet moments with the female lead to make up for his faults, I still wish his redemption arc was longer. Athanasia suffered a lot because of him and in the end, he is forgiven despite all he has done to her.
At one point in this story, there is an amnesia arc, in which Claude loses his memory, Athanasia suffers some more while trying to make him regain his forgotten memories before he kills her again, and a whole bunch of other chaos happens. This was a key moment in the manhwa, so it took place over many chapters and took up the majority of the story. A very long arc. That's why I wished the author had made Athanasia the one to lose her memories so this way Claude would have suffered instead and he would also have been the one to help her restore her memories. That would have been amazing to see and would also have maybe made him a little more likable to me.
I also want to say the Lily and Felix ship is amazing. I want to see more of them. I think the maid x knight ship is really cute although I haven't come across many stories with this trope.
Speaking of ships, since this story is mainly a father-daughter bonding relationship type of plot, romance is not the center focus. The male lead, Lucas, and Athanasia do have a few romantic scenes here and there but it's not a crucial part of the story. Their relationship is left without a proper closure at the end.
[—The second lead syndrome hit hard for this one because I thought Ijekiel was the male lead when I first started reading this, turns out I was so wrong haha. I'm still rooting for Ijekiel because he's so sweet. Maybe if not in this life, then perhaps in another life he'll finally be happy with the female lead.]
