I just came back from a trip in the German and Swiss alps so I’ve been thinking a lot about this show lol. The vibes really made me think about it and the little houses and everything truly are like Romeo’s village. Since I’m writing this review some time after I actually completed the show my memory is a little foggy but the overall experience was very positive. The art style is dated, but very charming. I may be biased because I really enjoy the retro style. It’s very simplistic and the animation isn’t gobsmackingly amazing but it is a show targeted towards children so I don’t think it hinders it in any way. Although some episodes typical filler episodes that try to teach children moral lessons the plot can be very engaging at times. I felt myself become really attached to most of the characters even though the weren’t super developed. Romeo is a very sweet guy and you can’t help but root for him. Albert is by far my favorite character, though I always lean towards the smart ones. It’s nothing super inventive but it tells its simple story with its simple characters well. The next part is a little spoilery but I think it’s what makes this show stand out to me so just skip it if you care about things like that.
Anyways I just wanted to write this silly review because being in the alps kept making me think about this show and I noticed there were no reviews. It’s definitely not for everyone because it’s pretty long (over 12 is long for me lol) and sometimes is a little bit of a slog to get through. Overall I do think that it is worth it if you’re willing to look past its more childish elements. Also the opening is weirdly good, like it’s not good but also it is? For some reason I can only find the Arabic version on YouTube but I’m sure the original one is out there somewhere. Maybe I enjoy it because I’m so deprived of anime openings that actually sound unique. I feel like every opening nowadays has the exact same format and it’s nice when I see something that does something different. Also the ending song is not something I’d listen to every day but it is goofy and I thoroughly enjoyed listening to it at the end of every episode. Very silly 10/10
