Paperweight Eye is a manga about a lonely college student named Marie. She makes dolls as a hobby those dolls often somewhat of a re-creation of a memory or feeling of the past or present, or as her latest work, Majenka, which represents, what Marie hopes to be, her future/present self. After one day putting her dolls on a exhibition, they get stolen. Upon getting the news, she rushes to the exhibition where the staff explains, "it was almost as if they walked out by themselves.". On her way home from the exhibition she stumbles across the main suspect, Kahrel, who kidnaps her, taking her to his manor where he demands one thing that seems to bring back memories and questions.

The story falls under topic like psychological and mystery, revolving around a fantasy version of some every day problems and concerns. The story itself can be considered a brilliance by some, but what this manga fails is how is projects it. The ending was unsatisfying, and left a incomplete story behind. It's missing 20 chapters of clarification. Although clarification isn't necessary, as to make the reader theorize at times, there were too many unanswered questions in this manga, questions: some that the manga revolved around.
The characters, the characters. An unpopular opinion of mine is that, in fact, the characters are the least good thing about the manga. I feel the characters are underdeveloped, hell, I don't think I even caught Marie's last name. Obviously, last names aren't that important, but as an example. I feel the characters have no clear personalities, and seem to be a bit all over the place.
The art, on a personal level, is gorgeous and has a refreshing feel to it. While it stays true to the "usual manga look", it has a slight "realistic" feel to it. Which, some might argue, may give it a uncanny valley type of look, which wouldn't be a problem since this manga revolves around the more uncanny side of things. The scenery is very gorgeous and detailed.Even though the art is positive for the most part, it can be considered a bit sloppy and rushed on some bits.
