First of all, I need to say that this is my 1st review ever.
I also need to say that this review will surely piss off Bleach fans (not like I care
) also, it’s my opinion, no need to agree.
Btw I finished bleach just to say I've finished bleach and piss off bleach fans.
now that I've pulled up the 1st review card, Imma get into it:
#The Story:
The story of bleach is in resume, shit. Here's why: well here I’m not even gonna consider anything that happened passed chapter~425 (the end of the whole arrancar arc) since its basically all a drag and feel like it should've simply ended after that arc (gonna get into it later). Gonna start with the beginning, which, is until the soul society arc, the most basic thing a shounen could be. Nothing surprising, bad humour that doesn't make anyone (at least me) laugh and introduction as expected. After that comes the first real arc,
The soul society arc. This arc is basically an arc where ichigo has to go save a girl who got imprisoned by a big society, here, the soul society (a society of shinigami). During this arc, there are lots of action, and little to no plot other than fighting and running towards the goal. Barely any enemies have a proper introduction and others then byakuya who ain't even actually interesting but still. At the end after fight that defies all logic where ichigo became after every fucking sword exchange immensely more powerful for no reason he ends up saving rukia, this arc wasn't actually that bad, but those who say "peak" have shit taste.
Next, the Arrancar arc, this arc is basically an arc where ichigo need to save a girl (this time orihime) from a huge society keeping her captive. Does this sound familiar? Bcs it’s the same as last time, bleach ain't repetitive AT ALL! To rub salt in the wound, it even begins with three fights in a row where each character fights a random, gets beats up a bit and then says: " I didn't want to use this so early" and then beats the other guy up. Only thing about this arc, is that this time, the big enemy is actually my favourite character of the series: Ulquiorra. The last fight with ulquiorra before the fight with aizen (which is technically still in this arc but idc) is actually the best part of bleach as a whole.after they save the girl, blah blah blah... NEXT.
Everything that comes after this is dragged out garbage that shouldn't exist, it feels almost as dragged out as fucking DICE...
okay, imma only talk about the 3 characters I care here:
Ichigo: he's the MC, generally a basic shounen mc, other than having sick abilities and being the one with which each good fight happens I have nothing to say about him.
Ulquiorra: the only character with a personality I enjoyed but he unfortunately died before he could really shine.
Aizen: badass villain I gotta say but barely had any place in the actual story other than "I actually planned it all" and then getting locked up.
The art in bleach is mid. If I had to say, I would say that the designs are, by far, the strongest point of the series, things look cool, particularly the characters which either are look hot af or badass. Other than that the art never tries to do anything special which truly made the fights feel unimportant and tame despite their grandeur. If the art had only been a little more daring during the fights or more expressive, each fight would've probably been more enjoyable and considering 90% of this manga's plot is really just fighting, well it ruins it.
Bleach is a collection of great ideas done poorly. The story is lacking in most regards, the characters feel lifeless or way too bland to make me even slightly interested in them and the art has great designs but never goes out of his way to make bleach have any outstanding fights despite it being mostly focus around them.
that's why I give bleach a 30/100
