While years of biological research and scientific evidence says we only have one brain, in actuality we have two brains; one between the ears and then one between the thighs. And it's evident that most people are using only one. Ecchi Anime falls into that category where you would be using both brains simultaneously but a problem with most ecchi anime is that they often forget we got a brain on our head. Some of the most ridiculous tropes & cliches come from this genre which can be really weird to annoying to downright dumb. And many Anime use this as an excuse to just to throw in that unnecessary fan service.
MyDuD is no exception. There are a few moments that make your upper brain go "Is this necessary?" while your lower brain will be doing its thing. But there are times where the moments wouldn't be as exciting if it wasn't for the horniness, like episode 2 & 11, which I'm pretty sure are the most rewatched episodes in this Anime. What's pretty cool is that the show doesn't hide it's horniness, neither in it's story nor the characters. Unlike most ecchi Anime where the MCs are unbelievably dense or annoyingly horny, MyDuD knows it consists horny 15 year olds and uses it to make believable scenes that both your brains can enjoy.
I wasn't really expecting much from the animation department but it was very well animated. Maybe a bit too well at times because the amount of details went into making those bouncy animation sequences is a bit concerning. The character designs are definitely cute and all, as you would expect from romance Anime. And of course, the male MC looks like an NPC and the females standout, because of course.
I wanted this to be sort of analysis type review while I started typing but later I realized the only difference this romance Anime has with the rest is the premise. An evolving love story between two different people through appreciating each other's interests. That is cute and all, but MyDuD focuses more on cosplay than it did with doll making, or more correctly, MyDuD is more about Marin and less about Gojo.
For a character who's basically the back and bone of the entire show, Marin doesn't really have much of a character. She has a charming personality and a few good dialogues, but overall, she's just an object. A doll made to look good.
Contrast to her, Gojo, her personal assistant if you want to be rude, had to suffer some real issues. He's a loner, gets depressed, gets anxious, and all that generic romance protagonist problem yet none of them gets resolved or even touched upon. The only time the show does this is in episode 4, which is my personal favorite episode from this show, but that's all appreciation goes in terms of writing. Remaining else is either generic or uninteresting, like the 3 episodes revolving JuJu and her sister.
Here are a few opinions that some might agree and some will get angry over.
