Bocchi the Rock is just those types of shows that kinda bugged me, not because of anything that's happening, but SOMEHOW, 5 months later, this anime still has a great following of both casual and hardcore anime enjoyers alike, with some people thought it was scripted and directed by Jesus.
After watching ALL of it, I admit that i KINDA get it.
Being a guitarist, and an early guitarist for that matter, is kinda like the perfect match for a critically-acclaimed show, it's like one of those "jobs" that is quite painless, because it's one of the things a lot of people strive into being, and they feel motivated every time they see anime like this.
I think one of the reason why people like it is its very dazzling animation: ![]()
Every scene in this show is embedded with something magical, and it's always unique and different. For example, there was a scene where Hitori is interacting with someone, and it's always awkward and sweet, the animation states that quite clearly.
I can say that this is one of the most brilliantly animated shows I've ever seen, and I'm not saying that lightly. This one aspect of this show really surprised me the most, as it also perfectly encapsulates the relatability of the comedy in this show, while shining different "lights" to everyone in the Kessoku Band, especially Ikuyo.
Speaking OF the characters, this is another aspect i like: ![]()
Let's start with the first main character introduced in this show, Hitori Goto, she's basically the same-y, kinda generic socially awkward person, but this is greatly not the case when the other characters are with her, this even includes her family, which, while doesn't contribute MUCH to the overall characterization of Hitori, still are charming, and likeable. Her "mumumumumumu" is also funny
Same for the other members in the Kessoku Band, Ijichi Nijika is also a good character and is a great turning point for Hitori's character, along with Ryo Yamada, they're all pretty silly, and have their own personalities that make them distinct.
my favorite HAS to be Ikuyo (Kita), Ikuyo in this show is always the one who's in the band acting in a very ocky manner, and her personality is shown RIGHT AWAY that she is WAY more extroverted than everyone inside the band, and that's perfectly explained in episode 11.
Kikuri is also introduced halfway through the show, and does help Hitori out in her introduction.
All of the characters form an unbreakable bond with each other and it's always entertaining to see them around.
I also liked the story: ![]()
It's very simple, and sometimes quite in-your-face.
Now, I don't particularly think the story is AS relatable as I've seen a lot of people claim it as, but it's still interesting from time to time, there are a lot of things in the story that are enhanced by the direction, cinematography, and even the voice acting. There are A LOT of goofy stuff that's happening in this show, and it helps make the story feel more alive
The pacing is quite fast too.
Overall, this is a VERY good show that does almost all of its aspects well, along with creating a great, and enjoyable cast of characters, while having almost to no dull moments.
