Woah, this series has a lot of bad reviews. Honestly, I enjoyed it more than higher-rated series like Mashle. Is it wish fulfillment? Yes. As other reviewers state, it's a shameless wish fulfillment. The theme seems to be that it should be shamed for that, as if shaming the shameless makes sense. So I want to cover mainly the good aspects, but I will start with caveats and the bad:
So, yes, it has some bad. But, unlike some other shows this season, I felt it had good pacing. I never found myself sitting there wishing they would shut up already. I never found myself thinking "Nobody cares about your backstory, it's way too late in the story to bring it up now."
I found myself genuinely laughing at a few scenes, I enjoyed at least one reference to another popular series (Skip Beat!), and as a whole I had no complaints sitting and watching it straight.
There were no scenes with a forced engagement with some really creepy guy (I don't know why every Anime needs that arc, I hate it). There were no scenes where I thought "This makes no sense, the Author is just doing whatever they want."
There were some minor plot holes, but I felt a bit less than average.
Now, for the story:
The MC starts with effectively nothing except his grandpa who loves him, and a series of events probably explained in the synopsis leads to him becoming good-looking and ripped. But, his personality is the same. It's pretty weak at first, but it gets better as time passes, and it was never too frustrating for me. There's some definite anime-isms where the main character isn't really sure what's going on until the viewer is, but those few second delays would be absurd to gripe about.
There's a lot of girls in this series. Only a few really get any attention, but I can at least say "Their personalities are different in a few ways."
As a whole, the plot is primarily just him living his life and things happening around him. He doesn't have an overarching goal besides perhaps making some friends, and enjoying life along the way. Though, those aren't really conscious, as much as something that happens. I never had any complaints sitting in my head sitting through it, and I am a pretty big complainer about things feeling pointless.
Other things of note:
His powers are decent, but not fascinating.
I really enjoy showbiz shows, so the hints of that flavor added in were nice.
As a whole, my enjoyment of this show was close to an 8/10. Not quite, in part because of Animation cuts, in part because of other elements I can't recall. So, I give it a Solid 7.5. Because I'm not a professional reviewer, and I rate based on my enjoyment, not based on if it has enough scenes where the MC is realistically depressed or getting screwed over in life. I don't need anime for those, thanks.
