Before I start with the review, my recommendation\ for watching this show would be going in without any research or spoilers, it's a wild ride and I'm sure you'd enjoy it, and to experience it in it's entirety for the first time is magical.
Wow, where do I even start? Going into this show I didn't expect much especially because I've never been a big Rom-Com person. Man did things change, the characters are realistic, with a teen boy named Ryuuji Takasu who's made out to be a delinquent based on his appearance, and a teen girl named Taiga Aisaka, who's an actual delinquent despite her small stature. Even the non-lead characters are thoroughly fleshed out like Ami Kawashima, Yuusaku Kitamura, and Minori Kushieda; each getting their fair share of screen time and plot importance.
Moving onto the sound design, it is absolutely beautiful. Tracks like: Ame Iro Rondo, Lost My Pieces, and every other song on the soundtrack all have a stunning ability to convey emotion. The saddest moments of the show, the happiest moments of the show, the slice of life moments of the show, every single moment has a well thought out song that fits beautifully.
The story is stellar under what may just seem like any other school-based Rom-Com slice of life show. The beautiful way that the characters naturally develop and it doesn't feel forced whatsoever. The way the circumstances where characters interact just feel realistic. The way that not one single characters thoughts, feelings, or emotions aren't ignored willingly just makes for a way more interesting show that carries more emotional meaning where you feel attached and are rooting for every character.
And to wrap it all up this show has a well thought out beautifully executed ending that has a beautiful theme all about adulting. That's it, this show is about the transition between your teenage years up to adult hood and it does it in the most amazing way.
Toradora! I will always remember that faithful night I began watching you from some reddit recommendations for Rom-Com shows, in the 2020 pandemic stuck in a house with nothing to do watching on VRV on my tiny Funai TV, Thank you to the entirety of the staff that worked on the show English and Japanese, it might sound like an exaggeration but you've truly changed my perspective and life. I don't know if I'll ever find a show on this level again, and I wish I could experience this show for the first time again.56 out of 61 users liked this review
