So, let's start with the first episode. It starts chaotically, almost dream-like - but that's also perfectly matching to the topic of the anime. It's fun to watch and gets you all excited, as you get introduced to all the things this anime focuses on. But, alas, they take that away right next episodes. Not completely though, as they're still great episodes - they just lose a bit of that 'eerie' feeling. Still, though, first episode is a 10/10.
What's happening in the next episodes, then? Well, there's 4 girls in the cast - so naturally, we're slowly getting introduced to their characters aswell as their traumas. I must say that I don't completely like Ai's personality, but I can turn a blind eye on this. Neiru-chan is a little bit weird, but frankly understandable. Momoe-chan and Rika-chan had great character writing, I don't really have any complaints about that.
Up to episode 6, this show is pretty much perfect. I genuinely have little complaints on these episodes and I loved the characters as they are. Slice of Life bits with them felt nice, although a little bit forced - can't complain however, they were good. But then, episodes 7+ happens. They slowly start introducing all kinds of sci-fi garbage, aswell as unnecessarily trying to make the plot complicated. If only it kept the simple plot till the end, things would be perfectly fine. But nope, let's throw it all away. This is where I genuinely hate this anime with all my heart - mainly the writer though. They tried to make the plot too complex for their own good, which, to be honest, absolutely nobody asked for. And as if that wasn't enough - the last 3 episodes completely spit in the face of any viewers, and especially anyone struggling with depression. All the girls who commited suicide in the show had perfectly content reasons and gave awareness to mental struggles and mental abuse. They threw it all away. It's practically an insult to anyone struggling with their mental health. This is why I'm so angry with this anime, and I'm going to hold a huge grudge on Cloverworks for allowing this to go through. And don't even get me started on the final episode.
Now that I ranted about the plot while trying to keep it minimal, let me talk about other aspects of this anime. Let's start with visuals. They're simply amazing. Even when the plot dropped the bar, visuals never did. This may be singlehandedly the best visual treat Cloverworks ever had - as of 2023, anyway. The animation, the scenes, the designs, they're all extremely pleasant and high quality. Can't complain about anything on this regard.
Can't say much about the soundtrack - I'm a poor judge. Still though, they're great pieces and match the mood most of the time. I don't have any complaints about it and they definitely made the anime more exciting. I'll leave this here:

Now then, what's my conclusion to this all? I'm genuinely disappointed in Cloverworks for approving the second half, aswell as the writer that was behind it. This genuinely had the potential to be a must-watch anime - it's great in a lot of aspects and first episodes were perfect material. They just had to go and ruin it all. My only question is "Why?". Why would you strip viewers away from a potential masterpiece?
I'm using this review as a way to release my frustration about this all(some people might've noticed the first half of the paragraph was different before), so I don't even really care whether it's truly correct or has good grammar, so sorry if you don't like it - thanks for reading all the way through, though.
