A background on my thoughts on Violet Evergarden first season and the side story/sequel before moving on to this movie.
Violet Evergarden in general has been such an emotional ride, full of great, and emotional moments, its majestic animation coupled by an exquisite premise and an even greater execution.
The first season really sets up well to all of the characters, and each and every emotional trip Violet goes through just adds to her character and how she learns through other people's feelings are set up VERY well, and i even got teared up in some of the episodes.
The side story/sequel movie is a more lighthearted but still emotional take on Violet Evergarden, Isabella and Taylor's whole relationship is genuinely heartwarming, the whole journey of Taylor's career is well-executed.
Now to the thoughts on this movie in particular:
Animation: ![]()
the Animation just gets better and better every installment, and this movie is no exception, the landscapes, flashbacks, backgrounds, and the looks of all of the characters just is majestic to look at.
Also the emotional moments in this movie, are ALSO enhanced by the animation, which makes them feel more insightful in nature.Characters: ![]()
OH MAN!, the characters in this movie are all mind-blowingly emotional, every single one, side character or not, are all very nice, touching, and very well-written
Let's start with the titular character herself.
She has a very prominent personality throughout the ENTIRETY of this show, established earlier that she was a soldier who was never learned how to read, write, or EVEN speak but only follows orders from Gilbert, Violet had learned a lot from the experiences she had, and still is determined to find Gilbert MANY years later
Speaking of Gilbert, he is another character I like, as although he appears quite late into the film, he still has conflict and regretted what he did to Violet
There is also Yuris, while he is NOT as important as Gilbert, he is still a good character nonetheless.
The rest of the characters are still good as always, especially Claudia.
Story: ![]()
AMAZINGLY deep story and lore, with a lot of cultural and war themes that happen in this movie are an improvement over the first season, and although most of the things happening in this movie are achronological, all of the important plot events are well-paced and doesn't feel out of place
Overall thoughts
A must-watch. An emotional trip that is nearly FLAWLESS in its execution.
