You will not be able to read another manhua and be satisfied with their general lack of depth and details. Not after you finish this one!
You read the title and think that you know exactly what you are getting yourself into. And... you would be right. The story goes along with your expectations and then it suddenly hits you - the impact of details and depth!
This manhua has triumphed over so many others based on these two simple terms and a great plotline to support that.
The storyline may go along a common, even cliched one. But you can clearly see the difference a team of amazing artists and a great author can make, as well as the effort put into this!
Certain transitions, just chilled me to the bones. With a few simple panels and a subtle shift, the entire atmosphere changes. These panels were filled with a silence heavy with meaning! These transitions were so palpable, so powerful that you could "feel" it... you could "hear" it...
All the main characters has a realness to them that you just can't find anywhere else but in a great story. The best of them all is surely the MC. The spectrum of emotions the heroine goes through, the dichotomy of doubt and conviction, brings forth our own experiences - which were not in black and white, but in all shades of gray.
All the in-laws has their individual journeys with the heroine, which brings her their trust and affection. There are so many stories out there where the side characters simply fall in love, just because the MC breathes. This isn't like that. The affection that has developed for the MC is the aftermath of their experiences together. This wasn't done to curry favor either, but just her genuine efforts to help this family, even when she didn't want to, out of the goodness of her heart.
The villains were the best thing about this manhua. The mother alone could haunt your nightmares for days on end. It is not that she is truly evil, but the opposite that kills you. And the princess! She has only begun and you won't even want to step foot in the country that she is in. She can chill you to your very core, because people like her already exist, in your world and mine.
If there is one thing that could be bettered, it would be the pacing. It is slightly slow at times. But this is me being picky.
In my humble opinion, you can read this manhua till the end and then say "au revoir" to the regression-revenge storyline for good! You won't regret it.
