Jujutsu Kaisen (JJK) is an incredible and exhilarating anime that seamlessly combines action, suspense, and a pretty great storyline to create an amazing and enjoyable experience. JJK provides incredible animation, beautiful and dynamic fight scenes, all while also providing a killer soundtrack that can be listened to on repeat. It's really no wonder JJK has gotten so much traction form seasoned watchers and newcomers like myself. JJK was one of the first animes I have seen, and because I thought the emotions and feeling were running too high and I thought it would influence my review I decided to wait it out. I also thought it would be a good idea to watch more media to have things to compare because maybe it's just because I watched it very early on in my journey? nope. There's a reason JJK is regarded highly and that's because it bring so many incredible things to the table.
One of the most impressive aspects of JJK is its well-developed characters, each with their own unique personalities and backstories that add depth to the narrative. It becomes incredibly hard to not become emotionally attached to the characters we are shown this season. We have and large variety of characters in this season alone each bringing something to the table. We have Yuji just now discovering the world of sorcery and discovering his place and who he wants to be moving forward. Megumi struggling with holding back and not giving it his all, Maki struggling with her family ties, Todo bringing some humor, and of course we have the one and only Gojo Satoro. Gojo's presence on screen is something that is hard to describe, a demanding presence when he fights, yet he's softened by his humor, and yet clouded by something that hovers over him all while he is doing his best to teach his students and make the world a better place for sorcerer's.
The story follows our protagonist Yuji, who after consuming a cursed spirits finger, Sukuna, he has not been sentenced to be executed by Tokyo's JuJutsu High (a school for sorcerer's). When Megumi, a friend Yuji makes early one asks Gojo to protect him, he end up with a deal for Yuji. Die now, or help find and consume the rest of the fingers, and then die. Yuji having a heart of pure gold choose the latter in roder to do some saving prior to death. This leads into the many different events ultimately wrapped up in a group of villains aiming and planning to retrieve the fingers themselves and planning something for the horizon all while committing murders left and right. Specifically done by the main antagonist this season, mahito or patch face who causes a good amount of trouble along with hanami whose fight has some of the most incredibly animated fight scenes Ive seen.
The anime excels in its ability to strike a balance between intense, adrenaline-fueled fight sequences and moments of heartfelt introspection and character development. It deftly weaves together themes of friendship, sacrifice, and the constant battle between good and evil, leaving you with anticipation, suspense and an overall feeling of excitement. It is also able to throw some humor in scenes yet it comes off completely natural not forced. In some scenes its exactly what is needed to relieve some of the tension and suspense reminding you to breathe.
Furthermore, the animation quality and art style are nothing short of exceptional, with fluid movements and intricate detailing that bring the world of JJK to life in a visually stunning manner. The details, color, and fluidity in their movements during each battle is definitely something to admire. Each fight is beautiful to watch, with very clear picture, consistent frames, and beautifully done art. The visual provided in JJK are one of the best I've seen and even on my third rewatch I still found myself amazed at how incredibly smooth the frames were. Aside from fights the background and visuals in general were gorgeous. For example Sukuna's Domain expansion and Gojo's domain expansion were on a different level of animation. The colors used were beautiful and those scenes were some of my favorites, perfectly adapted.
In summary, JJK stands out as a must-watch anime that delivers on all fronts - from its engaging storyline and well-rounded characters to its breathtaking animation and intense action sequences. An incredible soundtrack, beautifully done OP and a bop of an ED that at times will make you wonder why is this upbeat song playing right now while im in full blown tears? Along with it's ability to seamlessly blend elements of the supernatural with heartfelt human drama and even some humor JJK has something for everyone.
