NOTE: I'm heavily biased towards AoT so please if you find me overpraising the anime, it's because of the genuine love I have towards it. You are extremely welcome to dislike my review if you disagree and have a completely different opinion than mine, it's absolutely fine. Everyone should have the right to be entitled to their opinions. With that being said, these are my thoughts after watching the final final final episode and the overall anime:
It's over guys. The end has come, and we are left with nothing but a hell lot of shit to process. AoT is one such anime that will always have a special place in my heart, no matter how many anime shows/movies come and go that surpass its quality. It hooked me from the very first episode, and there was absolutely no stopping me from that point onwards. Every single aspect of this anime is PERFECT; even if there are some flaws, I am ready to overlook them because of the overall experience that AoT gave me while watching it.
At this point, Attack On Titan has transcended way beyond being "just an anime". It's something that defines the present "me", because of its highly influential themes and the ultimate message that it tries to give out. What started off as a humans vs. titans survival story, turns into one of the most devastating outlooks towards the "cycle of hatred" by humans that gets passed on through generations of people. It's a story about how humanity knows nothing but to resort to violence when crisis falls upon them. It's a story about love and empathy, and how one should reconsider their biases and view the world without them. It's the story of a boy, who sought freedom and kept fighting till the very end, and kept moving forward.
It's been one hell of a journey guys, we've finally reached the sea. Beyond this, we're left with nothing but fuck-load of memories, a hell lot of emotional weight, and the fact that we have experienced something much more greater than our lives. The mere fact that we're probably never gonna get anything like this for a while deeply saddens me to the core. Attack On Titan gave me a purpose to live, as it was something I used to look forward to whenever a new season was announced or when a new chapter came out. The amount of excitement and anxiety AoT has given me with each of its episodes, it's just indescribable at this point.
Thank you Attack On Titan, for making me believe that even if the world is extremely cruel, there are still people who love you and are worth loving. Thank you MAPPA & WIT Studios for bringing this masterpiece to life in its full potential and making me jump in excitement every week (and also for absolutely tearing me apart at the same time). Thank you Hiroyuki Sawano, for giving us the best possible OSTs that to date never fails to emote me whenever I listen to them. Godly music for real. And at last, thank you Hajime Isayama, for making us all experience this once-in-a-lifetime event through your impeccable storytelling.
_This is indeed, the end of an era. Goodbye Eren, you will be loved forever. Shinzou Wo Sasageyo✊_
