A review to cherish the masterpiece, Attack on Titan
Finally, we are here for the end of the story after years of the final season in parts. I somehow got spoilt by the posts and comments on social media, as nowadays it is inevitable to avoid online spoilers, especially considering the anime has a large fanbase and massive popularity, like AoT, Jujutsu Kaisen, and even Demon Slayer. There are different voices of opinion regarding the ending. All these scenarios merely show how impactful and influential the AoT franchise is to the people. In my opinion, no matter how it ended, Isayama deserves full respect and praise from the audience around the world for producing such a masterpiece.
It could be the brilliant foreshadowing hint and plot, the in-depth character design and development, that made AoT exceptional. How you are going to link up these aspects is another story. In Isayama’s point of view, he decided to let it happen in a ruthless world of fiction by depicting war and conflicts of humanity that can be brutal yet ironically realistic. In the story, the misconception between ethnic groups such as the world towards the Eldian is well depicted, where at first, you ain’t gonna know nothing about the truth outside the wall, and I was stupid enough to overlook the possible existence of other humans outside of the wall but to think only about titans.
I only started to catch up with the insanity of the plot ever since Armour and Colossal Titan’s identities were revealed, and it’s still one of the craziest moments that I have watched in an anime. Surely each of us would have some scene that left us with goosebumps, wide opened mouth and eyes. There are many other crazy and epic scenes in the show, but all of them are sobering once you realise it happens for some reason in the past, as if every move of the characters previously seemed to be reasonable and it has led to these outcomes. The same goes for this final chapters. Everything that had happened in this chapters will go down in history and be remembered.
Animation has been controversial as the adaptation undergoes a shift of production studios from WIT studio (Season 1 to 3) to MAPPA (Final Season). Still, I am grateful to MAPPA for taking over the adaptation. MAPPA could be the best possible studio for the show to carry on, and they are the ones who saved this unwanted big name from several turndowns during that time. All I can say is that WIT studio made a stunning beginning for AoT until the turning point where MAPPA took over. Personally, MAPPA’s Titan looks more demonic, and the art style is better in designing grown-up characters and the tone of the plot. Anyway, both art styles deserve compliments because it’s not easy work to produce such an anime full of action and complicated information.
A wholesome anime often comes along with decent sound and music that is unforgettable. Of course, we all know that the opening and ending songs have been absolute classics. On top of that, the soundtrack produced by Sawano Hiroyuki has been leading the audience to watch the show with gusto. It’s totally impressive that Sawano produces so many bangers of different anime for which the music of his creations is merely inspirational and emotional. Other than that, the voice acting by the cast is exceptional on account of the perfect selection of cast; no one else could ever be the voice of Eren except Kaji Yuki; the same goes for Mikasa, Armin, Levi, and so on. It just gives you literal chills when the dialogue is voiced subjectively yet emotionally.
I have to say the epic ending was worth the wait. The fact that it has ended is just surreal and unbelievable because it’d been so long. It will be a matter of time for me to get over it, and I wonder how long it would take because I love this show. Attack on Titan will hold a special place in my heart. For those who also love Attack on Titan, we could only start getting used to the future days without waiting for the comeback of AoT, but we could always look back to this thrilling journey when we miss it.
