Why was this anime so good?
Like damn, I played the game afterwards and it was embarassing how much better the anime was (story-wise of course, gameplay-wise the anime sucks because it's not a game you genius)
I'm sorry but how the heck am I supposed to write 2200 characters about an anime I watched 20 years ago?
What? I don't have to write this? Well, I'M WRITING IT ANYWAY

Look I remember I really enjoyed the characters. Let's start with the villains.
The villains felt very Team Rocket-esque, being really funny and all, but each of them had a personality and were really cool looking, and they all had their moments within the anime, so they were great and a joy to watch.
The main characters were pretty cool too, and all had their time to shine as well.
Oh yeah man, the music!! The music was so good! The openings and endings still live rent-free in my head...I remember the second opening showed up in my head one day and I was like "wait, what the heck is this?". Then once I figured it out I was overjoyed by viewtiful memories.
By the way I still carry a big lesson from this anime, which was that ketchup is actually REALLY GOOD. And that I shouldn't be worried about wasting the fries with ketchup because it actually enhances its flavor. I haven't learned that lesson yet, but I sure as hell remember it
This anime just had a lot of charm man. But we gotta enter some ground-breaking territory here and I hope you're ready for a bumpy road: the art style!
"The art style SUCKS!" said animeweaboouser234. People just have no taste these days. You see, every freaking anime and their anime-moms already has that generic-beans visual with super cute anime girls and stuff. Either that or they're chibi.
This anime DOES. NOT. CARE.
It has neither chibi nor human-esque characters. It has tiny, kinda chubby, funny-looking characters. And I love all of them and wish them the best. Ok, maybe not all of them are chubby, Alastor exists.
SPEAKING OF Alastor, he's a great character. I like him, his character has quite the developments that I wouldn't spoil even if I remembered them.
Back to the art style: it makes sense with the game and I think it fits well with the overall atmosphere. It also feels great to watch an anime that is actually somewhat different than the usual. I wouldn't want that ALL the time, but who would want ketchup ALL THE TIME, am I right? Probably not.
Anyway I really have some fantastic nostalgia feelings for this show, so I hope you don't mind my terrible review, I just wanted to express these feelings. Maybe I'll eventually be able to rewatch it and have some clearer thoughts about it, but then my feelings will probably change. Don't know if it'll be for the better or for the worse, but I'm just happy Viewtiful Joe exists.
Thank you.
