I have only seen 2 harem anime that tries to explore the... logistics, if you will, of having more than 1 girlfriend and they're not very enjoyable. I'm talking about To Love Ru and Girlfriend Girlfriend. They're usually cringy and quite sad because some girls feel left out, some feel inferior to the other girls and some want the main character to devote himself fully to just themself. 100 Girlfriends and the animes I just mentioned are quite similar, they have comedy as their main focus and ecchi to add some flavor to it. But this anime just does it 100 times better.
What makes 100 Girlfriends unique is that the main character, has an infinite amount of energy and dedication to all of his girlfriends. He makes sure that none of them feel left out and are all equally loved so that there is no best girl, because all of them are best girl. As a result of that I don't feel cringy or sad when another girl joins the harem because I know they all like and accept one another as Rentaro's (the main character in this show) girlfriend.
Now setting that aside, although I said this show had some ecchi in it, most of it is wholesome. The reason I said it has a bit of ecchi in it is because the kissing scenes (Yes, they actually kiss) looks so perverted because of the characters' blushing faces and the mood of the scene. But apart from kissing it doesn't have much ecchi except some sexual jokes here and there and that also sets it apart from isekai harem shows. Isekai harem, or normal harem shows often sexualises the girls by putting them in a vulnerable/revealing position with questionable clothes on, and I like that but after seeing that many harem shows even I will get tired of it. So this anime really is a breather for me because they don't need to sexualise the heroines to boost some sales, they don't need to make the main character fall on one of the girlfriends and accidentally grab her breasts for 10 seconds while groping it before getting sent to heaven and they don't need to make them moan so that we will watch the episode in repeat.
In fact, I'd often forget this show was about exploring the logistics of having multiple girlfriends, because their comedy is so damn good. It's hard to explain why something is funny but I'll take an example from the anime. Rentaro currently has 2 girlfriends and both of them wants to take Rentaro's first kiss but Rentaro's "Every Girl Is Best Girl" policy doesn't allow either of them to kiss him first. So, they spent like 10 minutes playing a game that basically boils down to all of them being blind folded while wearing headphones so they aren't aware of their surroundings, and moving into each location to give the other person a kiss, and in the end because of the blind fold and randomly determined locations, no one would know, including Rentaro, who got the first kiss. But of course this game doesn't go well, so they ended up doing a bisexual kiss. Not gonna lie I bet that's what everyone though would happen when they wanted to kiss at the same time.
That is just one of many unhinged scenarios in the anime, it's absolutely bat shit insane while not leaving the main topic of exploring the harem genre. Worth a watch. Also, the opening song is a banger.
