Synopsis#
Jiang Xiaobai is an editor for a weekly magazine, but one day he remembers an old childhood friend he used to know and then suddenly meets someone who used to look just like her. The only problem is that Jiang Xiaobai has forgotten most of his memories and can't remember exactly what happened in his past to make him forget about her...

Story and Characters#
This story is about a man called Jiang Xiaobai who has amnesia and doesn't remember much about his past. His co-worker who is helping to work on a project together is Tong Li, a young woman who resembles Jiang Xiaobai's long-lost friend from childhood.
With each episode you learn about both of their pasts and the connection they had when they were young. This is told through using flashbacks which gives an good amount of detail also to other characters.
Jiang Xiaobai is your typical character with amnesia and he suffers from headaches which help him to remember parts of his past. The main female character Tong Li who is much more complex as she is the one who makes this anime what it is. Her story is awkward to explain without spoiling the story but she knows Jiang Xiaobai for who he was in the past and she fears he has forgotten about her.
The only other side characters to note is Xiyu and Xiao Li; Xiyu is Xiaobai's childhood friend from Xiaobai's past. She is the girl who greatly resembles Tong Li and I cannot say anymore than that without spoilers. Xiao Yi is a really shy girl who has a crush on Jiang Xiaobai but cannot tell him how she feels for him. The other characters are from Xiaobai's past who formed a band together at school.
# Art and Animation#
The animation is a bit difficult to explain... Let me say first this anime has CGI artwork but that is not a bad thing. I know a lot of people are not fond of CGI in anime (
myself included) but it's not as bad as what you think. This is one of the better CGI you can watch as it's been made with a lot of care and attention to detail. Only the lip-sync is way off...
However the reason why the characters move so fluidly is because of Motion Capture. Whether or not you think this is lazy or innovative is up to you.
Meanwhile the artwork is vibrant, especially when you get a good look at the city skyline from a distance.
# Sound, Music and Voice Acting#
The first thing I will say is that the opening song "Bu Xiang Bing/不想病" by "Er Hu Sheng" is absolutely brilliant, so much that I never skipped the song. Definitely a favourite of mine because it also fits some of the more emotional scenes later on in this anime so well, but I won't say what those scenes are about. Why do I like the song so much? Well keep the song in your mind and you will understand what I mean...
The ending song is called "Yunyan Cheng Yu/云烟成雨" by "Fangdong De Mao" and in my opinion is calm but melancholic, yet at the same time puts a smile on my face. However this song becomes really sad once you begin to understand the events in this anime.
The insert songs you will hear throughout this anime are timed well so you feel the emotions during key scenes and it breathes more life into the story. I really commend the use of these songs and there is a lot of varity too, some are relaxing ballads while some are more upbeat or dramatic songs. There is also the band song called "Fly" which you will know when you hear it. Still, you start to think this is a musical anime with so many insert songs..
Enough about music, let's talk about voice acting. The voices are in Mandarin and they are not bad. Each voice suits the characters and doesn't sound annoying in any way. There is no Japanese version or English dub for this anime as of writing this review so you have no choice with languages.
Sounds are fine, I didn't really notice anything extraordinary since this is a romance anime.

# Final Thoughts#
A surprisingly interesting seinen/romance anime that rivals Quanzhi Gaoshou/The King's Avatar for "Best Chinese Anime", but the 3D art might be too weird for some.
The OVA is not the ending to the series! But it does give you a hint as to what happened.
Thank you for reading my review! If you see any mistakes then please let me know. I would greatly appreciate any advice you can give me.~~~
