I will not go in any details of the show that will relate to any spoilers!
Well, where to begin. Koko Connect might be one of the most underrated slice of life anime of 2012.
The story follows Taichi Yaegashi, a normal guy enjoying his school life with his 4 other friends (Inaba, Inori, Yui, Aoki) in their Cultural Research Club.
The anime seems pretty normal in the first few minutes of the first episode, but one day strange phenomena start to happen.
And that is exactly what makes this anime so special - Slice of Life x Supernatural.

The characters are, in my opinion, the most interesting thing about this anime. Koko Connect has managed to create really realistic characters with realistic emotions and actions. As I continued to watch, I really thought to myself that I would react the same way as Inaba.
Well, the story actually only focuses on the character development of the girls, and this is like the only drawback to it, because Taichi and Aoki hardly got any love from the series, and that would be one of the negative points of the series. Otherwise, I have to say that the "problems" of the girls in the series are tackled really well, and there is a lot of character development. And also here, the reality aspect plays a bigger role, because the problems are really dealt with, which exist in our world as a matter of course.
Unlike other Slice of Life anime that focus on the school setting, Kokoro Connect stands out. You get to see so many more scenes than just the school itself.
The anime really offers a lot of variety to the scenery itself.
The artwork is also really good and classic, as you would expect from a 2012 anime - OG Artwork -. The characters are drawn very simply, the expressions are very recognisable and just have something magical about them.
The voice acting is really good. Some scenes, especially towards the end, really showed what the voice actors are capable of. The whole thing really emphasised the realistic aspect I mentioned earlier.

I really liked the anime. Some scenes were simply captivating, but especially in the middle of the anime, it lost a bit of steam, which I really wanted to mention here. But this disappointment in the middle was compensated by the episodes at the end, which rounded off the anime nicely.
Personally, I would definitely recommend this to anyone who already likes Slice of Life, but also to people who haven't warmed up to the category yet, as there is so much more to expect than Slice of Life, namely very good characters combined with beautiful artwork and super good voice acting.
