"Having happy and beautiful memories won't always bring you salvation. The more beautiful a memory is, the more painful it can become. It can even become terrifying. Both for the one who's leaving... and for the one left behind."
A really cute anime with a great atmosphere in the team. There is nothing more comforting, until BOOM the end touches us right in the heart.
What can I say, really, it's the kind of fictional story that transports us, as if we were members of the SAI Corp.
The characters are adorable, with all a very endearing personality. We follow the little stories to the end, or at least, until the main story takes a turn that terrified us from the beginning but which was announced. In short, after having carried out a few missions within the company, Tsukasa knew how to integrate and we really feel that the relationships between the characters have been deepened since the beginning. But after a while, we take a slap, a return to reality: Isla doesn't have much longer, her life as an android is going to end.
I really loved the romance between the two characters. But my heart was starting to tighten on the last moments between Isla and Tsukasa. I was really bad because in the end, loving an android is loving a time bomb. And the last one, in the Ferris wheel, where Tsukasa "deactivates" Isla finished me off mentally, I cried like a baby.
This anime reminds me of some Korean dramas, like Move to Heaven, or Extraordinary Attorney Woo, in which each episode represents a small case in which we draw nice morals. The difference is that in Plastic Memories, we add to that the certain death of a character we love. And that hurts.
The opening is magnificent, I listen to it very regularly and it is part of one of my favorite openings. The visuals are nice. I think it is a must-watch for drama and romance lovers. However, I wouldn't have chosen plastic to describe these memories, but rather a more solid and beautiful material, like diamond. The title just makes me think that the memories created between Isla and Tsukasa were futile when on the contrary, they allowed Isla to live the last moments of her life in the best possible way. In short, I find the title a bit pessimistic. But I think it's also a title that illustrates Isla's point of view well.
This anime reminds us that time is not infinite and that we must make the most of our loved ones. Because relationships always end, by separation, or by death. But that's also what living is about, it's accepting that there is an end to everything.
