Alright. I've been wanting to write a review on this series for a while.
It's just one of those series' that I hold to dearly to me that I just have to say something about it.
The whole review is just my opinion. Take it with a grain of salt, yeah?

This review does not contain major spoilers. I won't be going over the storyline in detail. if you haven't watched the series yet, go watch it if you're already on the fence about it!

So, let's get into it.

Overview

Girls Und Panzer (directly translated to Girls And Tank.) Is an anime original series that was made in 2012 by studio Actas.

This series is, exactly what the title is. Girls and tanks. Lots of tanks.
It's a series where girls get into tanks to fight for sport. It sounds stupid. But hey, the thing that sets this anime apart is it's stupidity.

This show is an anime original. Which is 100% why this practically stupid idea of a show can actually happen. And oh my god is this show amazing.

The Tanks

The appeal of this show is about the tanks.

I'm not going to talk about the characters. That's mainly because I wouldn't have enough time to do so. But I do have some time to talk about the tanks for a bit. All the tanks are real models made and produced before, after, and during WW2.

Historically accurately modelled, The tanks are amazingly animated. Inside and out.

The tanks in this series are known to go way too fast for their models. But, it doesn't really matter.

Also, some things that happen in the anime are easter eggs for tank and history nuts. The more you look, the more random info or references to historical events you can find!

This show is the first anime I ever watched. At the time, I was just an average person who didn't really like anime. Until I watched this anime.
This anime was too good to pass up. I watched it, liked it, and here I am now.

I was and still am a fan of history. It was the whole reason I watched this anime.

The storyline (not really)

The storyline is not what holds this anime up to the level it is at.
The history, the tanks, and passion from the people who made it is what makes this anime fun. it's what makes it special. it's what makes it amazing.

The storyline is not what you watch this anime for. it's not the thing that this anime is best at. But, it helps support the main part of the show: the tanks.

This show doesn't have an outstanding storyline. It's not what you're meant to focus on. It's about the level of story you'd be able to expect without the story really excelling.

The stereotypes

The stereotypes in this show are funny. Because they make fun of everybody
The Americans are rich, the Germans battle using the Blitzkrieg tactics, The British as constantly sipping tea.

Conclusion

Girls und Panzer is a stupid anime that I love so deeply.
I can see why the plot doesn't make much sense, but it's not meant to.
It just works. (Yukari is my spirit animal)

I can confidently say that I love this anime.
