A super cute and incredibly heartwarming anime.︶︶︶︶︶︶︶︶︶︶︶︶︶︶︶︶︶︶︶︶︶︶︶︶︶Let me start with that I'm not a fan of romance anime, not a fan of romance as a whole if I'm being honest. Yet I decided to give it a shot as I had been seeing bits of A sign of Affection on social media and I thought it looked like a cute series that I should at least try watching.
That being said, I did expect to finish it, but I didn't think I would like it that much before I started watching it, (as romance is not something I usually enjoy watching).
The story is super super cute. Seeing all sorts of characters their goals, dreams and interests. The main characters are also not the only ones getting their own screentime as even the stories of the side characters are being shown. Effectively building the story that weaves everything together, not just adding more side stories.
The main characters are not the only cute couple in the show either. A sign of Affection is written in such a way that even the side characters their relationships are interesting and have you hoping for them.

A Sign of Affection also brings awareness around deafness and explains that
deafness is a spectrum. This is done postively instead of having the focus on how sad the deaf characters should be as they have this disability. (Yes,
Yuki is not the only deaf character in this show either!) Even though the show brings deaf awareness postively, it is not undermining the disability either as the struggles of "normal" daily life are being portrayed.
The only thing that left me with mixed feelings at first, was that the main characters get together rather fast. However this is a story about the two of them being a couple, the things they do, their friends and the goals they have, both individually as well as the two of them together as a couple.
In the end, this anime is now a new favorite of mine. Of course I was sad to see that I had no episodes left anymore and was honestly disappointed that the first season was very very recently finished, meaning I had (and still have) to wait a long time til season 2 comes out.
A sign of Affection is also the only anime I really wanted to read the manga from, (and asap). Which I did in fact end up doing, I bought all of the manga not long after watching the show.
I will forever recommend this show to people asking for recommendations.

♡ ‿︵‿・ Yuki ・‿︵‿ ♡
Yuki is a lovely protagonist. She's a deaf college student, besides communicating using sign language, she uses her phone, a whiteboard or anything she can use to write on. She loves to take pictures of things that peak her interest with her favorite being flowers. She's shy but we see her grow more sure of herself over the course of time. It's because of Itsuomi that she started looking at her future and set multiple goals for herself, including seeing more of the outside world and to travel together with Itsuomi.

♡ ‿︵‿・ Itsuomi ・‿︵‿ ♡
Itsuomi is the most beautiful character I've ever seen ദ്ദി(ㅠᯅㅠ)
Itsuomi isn't just likable because of his looks, it's the way he talks, his voice, his habits, his personality, just him as a whole let's be honest.
Itsuomi expresses his love in all love languages, respects boundaries and communicates well. Seriously who would not love him. I would honestly see disliking this man as a red flag.
Besides being too good to be true, Itsuomi likes traveling, different cultures, languages and (German) beer. He also does truly act on impulse and will just flat out say whatever comes to his mind.

‿︵‿・ Oushi ・‿︵‿
I do have mixed feelings about Oushi as of now. I don't dislike him but do dislike certain actions of him as well as him not moving on. He doesn't look like it but is caring and thinks about Yuki; what she or others around her shouldn't do because of her disability and it affecting her for example. He also learned sign language, but just uses it to tease or be rude towards Yuki whenever he sees her.

#
‿︵‿・ Rin ・‿︵‿
Rin helps Yuki at school by taking notes for Yuki! She's also Yuki's bestfriend, very positive, energetic and always means well. She is very supportive of Yuki's relationship with Itsuomi and has been cheering them on ever since Yuki expressed that she was interested in him. This goes both ways, Yuki has been very supportive of Rin and Kyoya's relationship and has been cheering them on ever since Rin told her she had a crush on Kyoya. Yuki often comes to her for advice and tags along to the bar where both Kyoya and Itsuomi work.
ㅤ
#
‿︵‿・ Kyoya ・‿︵‿
A observing, calm, caring and collected person. Kyoya works as a barista in a small bar together with his cousin Itsuomi. He knows Yuki is interested in Itsuomi but is worried Itsuomi does not see it seriously as he has never expressed interest in a serious relationship, mainly because Itsuomi travels so much, which Itsuomi does not do for just a day or two.

‿︵‿・ Shin ・‿︵‿
Shin went to the same high school as Itsuomi and Emma, there the three of them became friends. Shin has loved Emma since high school but denied his feelings in front of her at the time. He is a hairstylist and thus appears with lots of different hairstyles and hair colors. He also dyes Itsuomi his hair. He's usually very calm, collected and quiet but after drinking too much once again with Emma he has a complete different personality. While drunk he's very loud, outgoing and choatic.

‿︵‿・ Emma ・‿︵‿
The one single character in this series that I dislike and greatly too. I literally can not with her- ꜀( ꜆-ࡇ-)꜆ Very whiny, very annoying, the type I will avoid like the plague. Also the reason Shin drinks so much. Even more dislikeable when drunk. Does get better in the end but still.
