OVERALL RATING: 8.9/10
*some review parts will be the same as the other my hero academia seasons! eg: world/setting is the same for all of them
plot: 8/10 -- i may be biased because i like a lot of the new characters that were introduced in this season, but i found this season's plot to be better than the first season's. there was a lot that happened, from the sports festival, to the internships, to the stain battle, to the final exams, & i found most of it to be very enjoyable. i love the organisation of the events, as in the order in which we started meeting new characters & getting into the problems & challenges of them. this season mainly focused on the heroes' training as they work hard to become pro heroes & i really liked seeing their efforts. i have to say that i loved learning about todoroki's background, as well, along with iida's relationship with his brother.
world/setting: 7/10 -- this world takes place in the future where people have evolved & started being born with "quirks". i believe it's about 300 years or so into the future so it was a little disappointing that it isn't as futuristic as i expected for 300 years to advance technology. however, everything else is pretty good. i've never really been into "heroes" such as marvel heroes. i just was never interested, however, i do like this world of my hero academia! the existence of heroes & villains being normal is pretty cool. i also like that hero schools have been established in society so the characters are going to school to learn to be heroes.
purpose: 10/10 -- there is a clear goal for the protagonist & everything that he & his classmates do is meant to help them reach their goals. i don't believe there were any significant detours in the plot. in this season, we see the hero students participate in the sports festival, engage in internships with pro heroes, & take their final exams. it's a very lovely progression to see from the previous season. in the first season, the students had just gotten into the school & in this season, they're training very hard now that they're actually in the school. seeing new antagonists at the end of the season was also very interesting.
characters: 9/10 -- the season was much better with character introductions than the last season since we already started with knowing the basics for most of the characters. i might be biased because todoroki is my favorite character, but i truly loved learning about his story & seeing his character development. we also get to see glimpses of the other characters in class 1A, though not in too much detail other than iida when the stain fight occurs. we are introduced to a lot of characters in the other classes, as well, which was very cool. i found shinso, monoma, & hatsume's characters to be very intriguing. i am still a bit bothered by bakugo's attitude towards midoriya. don't get me wrong, i do like bakugo, but his actions during the final exam when he was paired with midoriya were disappointing. however, i enjoyed his battle during the sports festival with uraraka! honestly, i loved seeing the entire sports festival arc with all the characters.
storytelling: 9/10 -- the timeline is constructed chronologically so everything is well organised. most of the story is based on midoriya's perspective & what is going on with him, but we start seeing the perspectives & stories of the other characters in this season, as well. in particular, we get to hear more about todoroki & shinso which i loved.
enjoyment: 9/10 -- i really enjoyed this season, especially the sports festival. for me, characters are a big part of whether i enjoy the anime or not & this season had so many amazing characters with lovely character development. i enjoyed learning about todoroki, iida, & shinso during this season. i also enjoyed seeing the other characters' personalities a bit more than in season one. i didn't particularly enjoy the internships simply because i thought it was a bit boring. i think gran torino is a great character, i just found the plot of those episodes to be less entertaining than the other ones.
animation/visuals: 10/10 -- i really like the art style of my hero academia, it has a bit of that superhero comic book feel to it. the animation is also really good, especially during the fights. something that stood out to me is midoriya's fight with todoroki during the sports festival. the animation was absolutely amazing & it was just so fun to watch. honestly, most of the fights were animated perfectly.
pace: 9/10 -- i found the pacing of this season to be a bit better than the first season. the events are more evenly spaced out & the number of episodes for each event was very balanced. the only thing that was just a little off to me was midoriya's training with gran torino; it was only 2-3 episodes, but i didn't particularly like it. i also thought deku learning one for all: full cowl was really fast. however, that could just be me being biased!
soundtrack: 10/10 -- i really liked the openings & endings for this season & i thought that they fit the anime perfectly. peace sign is actually one of my favorite anime openings! the music throughout the season is also great, specifically during fights.
gut feeling: 8/10 -- overall it's a great anime & i consider my hero academia one of my favorite anime. this was definitely better than season 1 for me, but i wouldn't say this is near perfect.
