OVERALL RATING: 9/10
*some review parts will be the same as the other my hero academia seasons! eg: world/setting is the same for all of them
plot: 9/10 -- i really liked all of the events that happened in this season! we got to see the training camp, provisional license exam, & an introduction to the big 3 & overhaul. there's just so much to talk about, but starting with the training camp, i really like that we can see how UA actually has a curriculum for heroes for their training, it's not just random training to make them all stronger. i also like how class B joined class A for the training camp, it was really cool seeing all the characters together, especially with tetsutetsu & kendo actually having a role & not being background characters. midoriya's fight with muscular as he saved kota was very nice, as well. i also enjoyed the introduction to many new villains such as muscular, compress, dabi, & toga along with their fights. something that was very interesting to me was how the league of villains saw bakugo as one of their own. as in, that he could be a villain just like them. they saw what happened at the sports festival & thought that they could convince him to join them, but no matter how foul bakugo's mouth is, he wants to be a hero no matter what & i really liked that. additionally, after bakugo gets captured, i love how some of his classmates decided they would try to save him themselves, but it was a bit weird to me due to last season with the battle against stain. midoriya, todoroki, & iida had already gotten into some trouble with stain so it was odd to see them going on another mission to save bakugo. then, all might fights with one for all in a very epic battle! i think this battle truly marked how the next generation of heroes is coming soon now that all might has retired. for the provisional license exam, as happy as i am for most of class A passing, it was kind of surprising to me that almost all of them pass on their first try when the exam is notorious for having a lot of schools gang up on UA. it was also surprising how bakugo & todoroki were the only 2 in class A to fail. i kind of feel like they should have passed. i feel like inasa was only there to be a reason for todoroki to fail, actually, so i didn't really like that. however, i did like the battle between midoriya & bakugo. there was just so much left unsaid between them from season 1 up to now. all their lives, bakugo had always been this bright star while midoriya was quirkless, but suddenly midoriya gained a quirk & was able to fight on bakugo's level? they had to have this fight at some point due to bakugo's aggressive nature. honestly, i'm glad that bakugo was able to piece together how midoriya received his quirk from all might & having all might confirm it & explain everything to him. i really thought bakugo deserved to know & he obviously wouldn't let the secret spill. at the end of the season, we are briefly introduced to the big 3 as well as overhaul, which leads into season 4. i felt it was a bit odd because it could have been the beginning of season 4 instead of the end of season 3, but it wasn't bad. there was a lot that happened in this season, but personally for me, it was really good!
world/setting: 7/10 -- this world takes place in the future where people have evolved & started being born with "quirks". i believe it's about 300 years or so into the future so it was a little disappointing that it isn't as futuristic as i expected for 300 years to advance technology. however, everything else is pretty good. i've never really been into "heroes" such as marvel heroes. i just was never interested, however, i do like this world of my hero academia! the existence of heroes & villains being normal is pretty cool. i also like that hero schools have been established in society so the characters are going to school to learn to be heroes.
purpose: 10/10 -- there is a clear goal for the protagonist & everything that he & his classmates do is meant to help them reach their goals. i don't believe there were any significant detours in the plot. in this season, we see the heroes train, face off against villains, & earn provisional licenses. the only thing i can think of that didn't really "fit" this season was the first episode, but that was mainly an introduction episode & a recap.
characters: 9/10 -- i felt that the character introductions, development, & interactions in this season were amazing! we got to see a little bit more of both class A & B which was really cool. i personally found shoji & tokoyami's scenes to be really interesting. it was funny to see bakugo & todoroki together, as well. this season clearly had the best character development out of the first 3 seasons of my hero academia, especially for bakugo. we see that bakugo has clearly been struggling from the very beginning when all might first saved him back in season 1 & has been hurting the whole time. we also see how class 1A really cares about each other, shown when they discuss whether or not they should save bakugo. although only some of them went to rescue him, those that didn't did not say a word or tell anyone else. i also thought the introduction for the big 3 was kind of silly because they all act eccentric in a way, but it was interesting. it made me eager to see more in the next season.
storytelling: 9/10 -- the timeline is constructed chronologically so everything is well organised. most of the story is based on midoriya's perspective & what is going on with him, but we start seeing the perspectives & stories of the other characters in this season, as well. in this season, we see so many different scenes with so many different characters. a lot happened in this season so it makes sense. i think a few times it was a bit much just because there was so much going on, but i still thought it was really good.
enjoyment: 9/10 -- i really enjoyed this season, especially the training camp. everything was very enjoyable, from the plot to the characters to the fights. the only thing i can say i didn't enjoy that much was how the league of villains aimed to kidnap bakugo to try to convince him to join them. i just felt like it was so odd no matter who the student is. why would you try to kidnap a hero student to become a villain? bakugo definitely has attitude, but he's in hero school for a reason. he's training to become a hero for a reason. i guess i just didn't make much sense to me plotwise.
animation/visuals: 10/10 -- i really like the art style of my hero academia, it has a bit of that superhero comic book feel to it. the animation is also really good, especially during the fights. i can't recall anything i didn't like about the animation/visuals. all the fights were animated so well & i enjoyed everything.
pace: 9/10 -- the pacing of this season was really good. going from the training camp to bakugo's rescue to the provisional license exam, i thought everything was well spaced out. the only thing a bit off to me regarding the pacing was how the big 3 were introduced at the very end. for overhaul, he just had a quick introduction & that was all & i thought that was perfect. for the big 3, we were introduced to them a lot more & it was just a little weird because i thought it would have been better for just a brief introduction this season & then a clearer introduction in the next season just like for overhaul.
soundtrack: 9/10 -- the music throughout the season was great, but there was nothing that really stood out to me that was exceptional or perfect. the openings/endings fit the anime as well, but they're still really good.
gut feeling: 9/10 -- i have to say this was better than both season 1 & 2 for me, but i wouldn't say this was perfect. a solid 9/10 to me.
