The Misfit of Demon King Academy was full of surprises. One of the major surprise is that I kind of expected this anime to be a harem and ecchi genre yet none of those were shown in this series.
(Picture Source: Pinkvilla thru' Google Image Search)The synopsis of this anime is basically about the main protagonist, Anos Voldigoad, the true demon king who was reincarnated 2000 years into the future. Instead of expecting a warm welcome from his subjects, he was met with cold and awkward stares. Anos soon learned that an imposter had taken over the throne after his death 2000 years before and proclaimed himself as the true demon king, hence, resulting in the false name being passed down generations to the present timeline. Anos was determined to investigate and seek out the imposter, while righting the wrong and gaining both old and new loyal followers who believes in him.
I know that synopsis feels like a whole lot of information was dumped onto you but that is really what is covered in the very first episode only.
Without going into details, what I like about this series is that there is little to no ecchi scenes, which is honestly quite a surprise considering how modern anime now loves to incorporate such scenes into the series whenever they can. Even though it looks like a harem genre, it actually is not as more key male characters will appear in the later part of the series.
(Picture Source: CBR thru' Google Image Search)Another reason I like this anime is how the show does not give you your typical "good is good" and "evil is evil". In this show, there are characters who are supposed to be "good" are actually "evil" (albeit some were under influence), and some characters who are supposed to be "evil" are actually "good". Of course, there are also characters who stayed true to their nature, meaning if they are supposed to be "evil" , they are "evil", and if they are supposed to be "good", then they are "good". I hope I am not confusing you all on this.
Alas, just think of it as a complex humanity being put into this one anime.

Although the story revolves around the school setting, the series strives to make the plot more entertaining with its unique characters, engaging story and some complexity elements involved. Quite a nice show to watch. Highly recommend.
