I only expected this anime to be a slice of life and fantasy type of show, when i first started and finished the series.
Never woulda expected that the movie would be the climax of the series. It literally gave me a new type of emotion when watching it. Most animes with movies only ends up either being peak or rather a compilation of past episodes, or something kinda boring. Thankfully this movie ended up being a banger, prolly the only 2nd anime with a movie that actually made made me like the series, being with Saekano: Finale Movie
The scene of Nagato and Kyon on the rooftop would be one of my favorite scenes in this series, a very wholesome and heartwarming experience for both of them, which is really sweet. Considering that Nagato was programmed to be an emotionless character, and being troubled by having emotions which she never experienced before and that being the cause of a continuum time drift or parallel, is so sad and somehow cute. But its really kinda sad when you realize that even though its a good thing shes starting to feel emotions, shes also tired of watching and observing haruhi everytime, like literally everytime. Even an AI who was programmed to not have any feelings and actually starts to have feelings would be tired of watching the same person every day. No wonder why Nagato recreated the world by changing the timeline. But seeing her giving Kyon the ability to pick which world he likes, whether he likes the original world with the old Nagato or the new world with the new Nagato, was also kinda sad, but it actually helps Kyon realize his true feelings about the S0S brigade and everyone else. Though seeing goodbye to shy nagato was kinda sad, especially only seeing her with a few screentime, but atleast we got to see her smile and other expressions.
Im also gonna review the series here, since i dont wanna type a whole nother review in each season so I'll also talk about them here. The first season was kinda boring but yet interesing, but im trying my best not to skip any part since they might have connections to the future episodes that im gonna watch. Mid way of the series both season 1 and 2 when we enter the Endless Eight Arc was so annoying that it almost me crash out (which i actually did), seeing all 8 episodes being repeatedly published and everything the same happens to the previous episode you've watched would make anyone crash out. Though thankfully the best girl of the series Nagato always there to save the day and give useful information that would help everyone. But realizing that she has almost 600 years worth of memories in those 15,532 loops is just too cruel. If my favorite girl Nagato could handle 600 years worth of loops, then i could handle 8 episodes of loop. Thinking about it, every conflict that happens in the series are mostly Haruhi's fault, like why tf would you give Haruhi a power of a god that could changed reality as she pleases, like out of anyone there is..
Every character in this show was decently well written compared to most moder/new gen characters. Though Haruhi was kinda annoying most of the time, especially at that one episode when she sad that Asahina-san was her toy, I actually wanted Kyon to crash out while i was crashing out while watching the episode, when i saw kyon actually getting mad i was supporting him the whole time, though when he almost hit Haruhi I thought it was going too far, but if he actually hit her, she definitely deserved it. But after some episodes, my opinion towards starts to change as she gets slightly less annoying in some future episodes.
I also love how everything in their lives is just a loop over and over again as most everything in their lives were foreshadowed by future episodes especially as in the movie. Kinda reminds me of AOT as eren was dreaming about his future and as he wakes up from that dream under the tree, everything would start again as a loop. It also reminds me of Steins;Gate, cause of the foreshadowing, knowing that it was all kyon who actually made haruhi the way she is now, and actually knowing that theres 2 kyon who time travelled at the tanabata festival is just actual banger of a way to make it more interesting than the world being recreated.
Everything was well written, both story and the characters too. Animation 9/10, very smooth and decently well animated especially since its Kyoto Animation my fav studio animated it. Finished watching the whole series with the movie at 21/12/2024. 10/10
