Synopsis: Alisa Mikhailovna Kujo, a stunning high school girl with striking platinum hair, attends the prestigious Seirei Gakuen private school, catching everyone's attention. Her classmate, Masachika Kuze, who sits next to her, appears to be her complete opposite. Masachika seems unmotivated, attending school only to sleep and slack off, much to Alisa's irritation. However, Alisa harbors a closely guarded secret.
Review: Honestly, I must admit I was pleasantly surprised by this anime. I started watching it because of the numerous anime-related videos that appeared on my Facebook feed, and my fondness for romcoms. From the beginning, the charismatic characters and the intriguing plot drew me in, revealing that both protagonists have much more depth than initially seems.
The anime starts by showcasing the fun dynamic between Kuze and Alysa Kujo. Kuze is carefree, while Alysa is dedicated and diligent in everything she does. As the saying goes, opposites attract, which leads to one of my favorite dynamics in the anime: Alysa flirting with Kuze in Russian. Alysa believes Kuze won't understand her, but the story takes an interesting turn when it's revealed that Kuze learned Russian as a child after befriending a Russian girl, so he understands every word Alysa says without her knowing.
From this point, the plot develops further, and we see Kuze and Alysa growing closer. We also learn more about Kuze's hidden past. The story contains elements that remind me of "Classroom of the Elite," as a plot unfolds where Yuki Suo and Ayano Kishima compete for the student council presidency against our protagonists. Despite this, the anime maintains its characteristic romcom tone. The plot is so engaging that it's impossible to miss a single moment, whether it's the romance between Alysa and Kuze, Kuze's past, or the race for the student council presidency.
One of the highlights of this anime is the exceptional Spanish dubbing, especially Alysa's voice actress, who excels in the Russian-speaking parts. Another highlight is the comedy, which uses a wide range of humor, making it very entertaining. It's hard to find many negative points about this anime, although it can be slightly annoying that some parts spoken in Russian aren't translated. However, this is more an issue with the Crunchyroll platform where I watched it rather than the anime itself.
Conclusion: “Alya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings in Russian” is a fantastic anime with a lead couple that has excellent chemistry, supporting a story that caters to all tastes.
