Anime Review | Overlord
Alright, so here’s the deal with Overlord. It’s your basic isekai setup, but it’s actually good.

This dude, Momonga, is playin’ his favorite VR game, chillin’, when BAM—the game shuts down. But instead of getting logged out, he’s stuck in the game as his character, a big-ass skeleton dude. Now, the game isn’t just a game—it’s real life, Now He is the big ass skeleton dude. The world around him is all fancy and alive, and the NPCs? Yeah, they’re not just mindless minions anymore. They’ve got feelings, heartbeats, and even blush and shit
Momonga’s like, “Nah, I will be named after a staff,” so he starts going by Ainz Ooal Gown—because that sounds way cooler. This guy’s trying to figure out what’s going on, but first, he needs to test his powers. Turns out, he’s stupidly OP. no one can touch him except maybe shalltear. But here’s the thing—before the game shut down, he was messing with Albedo’s character bio and made it say she’s madly in love with him. Now, in this real world, she’s obsessed with him. she literally wants to bone him.
The floor guardians, who used to just be part of the game, now act like he’s a literal god. They’re all different but crazy loyal to him:
Albedo: She’s the one he edited, and now she’s all over him, calling him “Ainz-sama” every five seconds.
Demiurge: The sneaky, smart one who’s always schemin’ and shit to make Ainz look good.
Shalltear: The vampire who’s strong as hell but almost just as obsessed with Ainz as Albedo
Cocytus : He's sort of a fatherly like figure who is a warrior at heart and he likes to let it go
Sebas : He is your average OP butler characyer
Ainz starts testing his powers, and it’s clear he’s unstoppable. He can nuke entire armies like it’s no big deal. But even though he’s OP, he’s not dumb about it. He’s always thinking ahead and pretending he’s calm, even when he has no clue what’s going on. He has to act like he’s got everything under control so no one doubts him. He also has a mysterious ability or effect that calms him down when he gets overstimulated.
The real fun starts when Ainz decides to make his name known everywhere. First, he saves this little village called Carne from getting wiped out. The villagers think he’s some kinda hero because hes wearing a cursed mask, but he’s really just playing the long game. He’s like, “If they like me, they’ll follow me, and I’ll look even more badass.” Everything he does is calculated—even when it seems like he's being nice.
As the story goes on, Ainz starts takin’ over kingdoms, destroying anyone who gets in his way, and building his empire. He is a pure anti-hero and he's out here to win. Whether he’s helping someone or destroying them, it’s all part of his master plan to rule the world.
Final Thoughts
Overlord, is a slow start with plenty of world-building some episodes won't even deal with the great Tomb of Nazarick or Ainz, some episodes feel slower paced
but it usually picks up again when Ainz is on screen that's when most of the action happens, this is a great watch if you like the anti-hero trope.
