I stumbled upon this while browsing the romance tag and noticed its high ratings. Having never heard of it before, I dove in blind, but with high expectations.
The first thing I noticed was the absence of a true "main" character. The narrative unfolds through multiple POVs, with new characters introduced as the story progresses. Initially, these perspectives seem disconnected, but by the end, everything ties together.
That said, several aspects didn’t sit well with me, and my interest waned during the final chapters. Regarding the art: while not bad, it felt bland, flat, and lacked depth compared to typical black-and-white manga. But art is subjective, and so is this review.
The first few chapters, focusing on the initial POV, were solid. I enjoyed the development between Bomi and Jinyoung. However, the story takes a drastically melancholic turn in the later POVs—something not hinted at in the synopsis, which took me by surprise. Viewer discretion is advised.
Surprisingly, that arc turned out to be my favorite in the series. I found many of the character's actions relatable, and his relationship with the FMC was genuinely touching. There were quite many cute adorable moments between characters throughout the series as a whole as well
Unfortunately, this is where the story began to lose me. The romantic elements become sparse in the later arcs, and when they do appear, they’re handled in a bizarre way. I'm usually indifferent toward love triangles, but this one really threw me off. Initially, X falls for Y, but Y loves Z. X, choosing not to interfere, steps back. But when Z starts dating someone else, you'd expect X to make a move. Nope. Instead, after some strange twists, X confesses to Y but inexplicably ends up with a random side character introduced much later. The whole dynamic felt unnatural and left me baffled. Apologies for the mathematical ramble, but it’s the clearest way to explain it without spoiling too much.
Another POV explores an enemies-to-lovers trope, which I usually enjoy when done right. This... was not done right. After all the buildup, the resolution felt rushed and unsatisfying, leaving me regretting my initial excitement.
The final POV was easily my least favorite. There’s virtually no romance, aside from a few subtle hints. While I felt some pity for the protagonist, I also found him unlikable. Maybe it’s just the theme that didn’t resonate with me, but even so, I don’t think it was handled well. To top it off, many character developments were left feeling incomplete. So the ending left a lot to be desired.
I genuinely tried to like this series. I liked it enough to finish it, even with a busy schedule, but it disappointed me in key areas—especially in how it handled romance, love triangles, and character dynamics. While the story attempted to evoke dark, emotional tones, it rarely resonated with me on a deeper level.
Still, this series is well-received within the manga/manhwa community, so it might resonate with you more than it did with me. Give it a shot—you might have a better experience.
