Kiznaiver is a one-of-a kind anime, it starts with introducing the characters and you can obviously tell the white haired guy is the main character due to his nonchalant-act and the obvious fact that he is hiding something.
You're not sure if you're getting into a romance, a slice of life, a thriller, you just can't tell what the main genre is.
Getting into the plot rq:
Kiznaiver is an experiment created by this random blue haired girl. This experiment is called 'The Kizuna System' and how it works is simple, whatever pain you feel is inflicted on the other patients (i'll call them patients since they technically have to take care of them to see the process of their experiment)
The main character- Katsuhira Agata cannot feel pain
The blue-haired mysterious girl tells him through this experiment he'll finally be able to feel pain.
Concept:
Obviously this experiment was a hurdle for each of the patients, and it only caused them trouble.
However, as they kept hanging together(to ensure no one gets hurt) they grew to learn more about each other, each character gets an episode where something personal of theirs is discovered by the squad.
The result of this is that not only do you feel the pain inflicted physically, but also emotionally.
The message behind it is beautiful, everyone always wants people to 'feel the way' they feel. To understand and empathize with them, or to 'put themselves in their shoes'
This show's concept is exactly to do that.
Noriko Sonozaki:
So remember that mysterious blue haired girl I mentioned? As you go along the episodes, bit by bit you learn about her.
Her story is deeply touching and a main factor to understand to be able to enjoy this show
To summarize, this experiment has been done before. It was tested on children who lived together in an institute, and both Noriko & Agata were from the children who were experimented on
The experiment was not as developed as of currently(with the new squad) and thus one of the effects was that Noriko absorbed the pain of most patients. Ultimately, she was sensitive to every possible painful thing, while the others became numb of pain(as it was being transferred to Noriko)
Agata was a victim of this too, and that is the reason he doesn't feel pain. However, he got the better end of the stick because other kids got so numb to pain it developed complete numbness to life.
The organization that started this system felt guilty for the results, and how it affected the children.
Thus they allowed Noriko to take measures and use the system as she pleases.
Noriko's mindset was a bit twisted, she wanted everyone to be connected through pain and everyone to understand and feel what others do. This is an understandable mindset considering she lived her entire life atoning for a system that promised her such a future.
The squad took matters into their own hands and they decided to stop Noriko (mainly Agata)
Thoughts:
During the show everyone talks about how much they hate Noriko, besides Agata.
And that's because they never understood her, he did (took him a while but he tried hard to)
So those who say they hate her, it means they never really grasped the concept of this show.
These 6 will always be connected even without the system, and Noriko moved on from this dark period of her life, she was shown that you don't need to be understood, you just need to connect.
Having different thoughts,ideas, its okay
Seeing this all happen is such a beautiful experience
These are one of those shows where you are confused more and more every episode, so I went ahead and re-watched it once I've grasped the plot, it changes the perspective.
A show that gives you 2 perspectives, that takes you on a beautiful journey, and shapes your thoughts on the word 'empathy'. It also includes romance, though it is not the main genre of this show it definitely is a changing factor, since love is the strongest emotion and once its being felt by the other members of the experiment, its just a potion of everyone's angst
That is all I have to include in my review, I hope I convinced you to check out the show
