This is the first manga I review, for good reason. Spoilers absolutely ahead.
At first Bloom into you seems like a normal (?) Yuri manga, but I find that it absolutely isn’t. should I do this with headers…? naah.
First I have to talk about the Yuri part itself, because, you know, it’s a Yuri Manga, it would be a shame to not talk about it, it's really good, in my opinion it’s not the peak of the Manga (I will come to the peak in a bit) but it’s really enjoyable. 8 volumes is a great time frame to make the journey, the development of the characters relation, very enjoyable and Indeed, the intimacy scene in chapter 44 is very redeeming. It also features some more of Love and human feelings, which I will get to like right now!
Bloom into you really does not stop at the typical romance part, it goes deeper. Yes, it got the normal pain of Love but that certainly isn’t based on anything normal, it is based on a deep frustration of not knowing what Love exactly is, Yuu certainly is going through those feelings, thus feeling treated unfairly by not understanding love, while still being loved. It’s this question of what Love even is. No, they are not done yet. Let's talk about the theater act. In this act they deep dive into the qustion of “who am I”, and omg I need to make a new paragraph for this.
Actually daring to dive into the topic of the “Me” is really impressive and I think they done it well too. By serving it in a stage play they don’t build up an entire part of the story for that exact topic, thus not risking to ruin the story on a larger scale just because the’re are too many unanswered questions. Also choosing to do it that way opens up the option to let the characters act in the root story based on those insights and ideas based of the theatre story. The story fits Toko as a character really well and also deepens the rest of the root story too. They discuss when you are not yourself anymore. It’s a very hard question to answer, because you first need to answer who you are in general. Like actually “YOU” or “ME”. How do you see yourself and how do other see you?
Bloom into you also covers some general philophical questions like “Who am I” and “What is my mission”, “what do I want to do”, “how do I find myself”, “when am I not me anymore”. Or being stuck in a situation emotionally. Another example is of course the first loveless love of Yuu and Toko, respectively, the one sided love. It also questions relationships (also society wise). When is a relationship what? How do we even define human relations? Why does society not except certain ones? How do other people influence relationships?
Overall this is a Manga I soaked through and I should probably watch the Anime very soon. I just find the authors mini Manga at the end very cringe, ngl.
I recommend this Manga to anyone whose willing to read a Yuri Manga or likes to dive a bit more into philophical questions.
Have a great time, just doing whatever, remember to always keep going in the direction you actually want to go, take breaks if you need them, life is stressful sometimes, get yourself some new bedsheets, get in bed, watch some anime and enjoy life, or do anything else you like. Have a good one!
