Looking at the graphics I didn't think much of it, but having nothing better to watch, I decided to give it a try and to my great surprise I was immediately drawn in.
The plot where teenagers with talent and potential have to master their own abilities to achieve their goal and make their dream possible, is unbelievably beautiful. The only depressing thing about this Blue Lock show is the amount of "corpses" these teenagers have to walk over to fulfill their dream of becoming the best football striker in the world only for one to succed. There were a few people I expected to see further in the anime, only to find out they didn't make it because someone was better. Heartbreaking, but realistic.
Another realistic thing was that these characters weren't perfect. They had issues, weaknesses, and pasts that made them three-dimensional. Personally, I love how they had these shackles that came from overwhelming rules which fueled their fear and when facing a worthy opponent instead of running away they break them, they broke thier limits. Slowly freed themselves from their shackles and became someone they actually liked and found hope within themselves. Every character from season 1 and 2 was created perfectly. And the chemistry between the characters who have to switch between friends vs. rivals and student vs. teacher to grow, mature and build their strength is so logical it's scary. I finally realised why EGO is the Mastermind.
Another thing that surprised me was the graphics which were much better quality than I expected. Every facial expression and body movement was so good that it was really easy to decipher and watch. The music and background stories were so well-matched that they gave the series another depth, which was also very nice.
Although apart from the matches my favorite moments were the comedy parts and behind the scenes at the end of the episodes, which allowed the audience to calm down. Seriously, when you see that a serious guy who could tear you in half for breathing too loudly turns out to be a cute cleaning maniac, or when a cheerful type is even more savage than the terrifying gamers... it's something both unexpected and exciting at the same time.
I'm really looking forward to the announcement of Season 3 and hopefully Season 4 and maybe even Season 5. I would love to see the successful end of the Blue Lock but not the U20 Match characters. I did prefer for them to be a team but unfortunately the show is about finding the best striker in the world not a team.
Wonderful anime!! So exciting, well presented and with so much potential for more. I highly recommend watching it!
