if you want a light-hearted, slice of life series, this one is so good. i feel like it addresses what it's like to have a hobby you're embarrassed about and when you finally find someone who's willing to support you, it's sooooo cathartic, especially if they're willing to learn about your interests from you--as someone who's been on both sides, it's so sweet to see how sasaki and miyano's relationship grows due to miyano finally having a space where he can express himself, as well as sasaki getting a new perspective on someone he wouldn't have otherwise gotten into. and in general, their dynamic is really realistic and i can see myself in their relationship, which not only is fantastic but also helps me process my own stuff! their relationship really reminds me what it's like to be so close to someone that you are happy just to chat with them and remember small details about them just because you like them...as well as mesh with someone so well you're on the same brainwave...
sasaki and miyano are just...so sweet. they're still clearly teenagers who are working their own stuff out but the fact that they truly care, respect, and love each other so much that they try to talk things out and work out their feelings is really mature of them, as well as showing how much they really do care about each other despite all of the teenager awkwardness. they also just...talk to each other so much and truly make each other so happy that you can't help but root for them even if they have their own insecurities ad hurdles <3 because relationships aren't always perfect and that's ok! because what matters if that you work it out and you're honest with your feelings :)
and despite it being a very queer narrative, it never fully makes it identity because it adds onto it. i feel like a lot of the humor come to from how some relationships are messy and how life sometimes gives you so many absurd situations that you can't help but laugh at, which really add a lot of life to the world and how it doesn't just revolve around sasaki and miyano...and it adds how other characters and them are effected by each other. it's a really mature take on the everyday things that make life beautiful, in such a soft and fluffy tone that it makes your heart melt when you watch characters live in this world...it really is a hopeful and funny series with such good characterization that you can't help but be transported to their world, just for a moment. for me, personally, i think it has enough lightheartedness but enough to say about the world that i can't help going back to it when things are tough. needless to say, it became a quick comfort series of mine and i highly recommend it!
also glamrock freddy voice acts sasaki in the eng dub if you needed another reason to watch this
