This is the most me anime of all time and I wish I watched this weekly because this would have been such a good weekly anime to do ep reviews for. The way they structured the story of this first season was so good because we started off with no information at all, just intrigue and then we started to learn more about what is going on and then we go into getting our staple group of characters via the debut. The debut was peak, Emilico and Kate are the best mcs, the way they used this event to gather a strong bond of friends I loved. It also introduced us to Edward who is basically one of our main enemies, really good character too because it makes you hate him for being so selfish to get his rise in the house but at the same time you have to admire it. So I think I have understood what is going on, well the jist of it, I still dont know the motive behind the shadow lord or how it came to be. Basically they brainwash humans into thinking they are living dolls and shadows are born from this (only explanation which seems possible for how shadows are born), the humans get a copy of themselves but made to think they are the clone since they are the "face" of the shadow. We see the masters being able to change to their face at anytime, they dont need a human with them to represent their face, which makes me lead to think that the whole children wing and debut, the whole system they built is for eventually the children shadows to capture the humans body so they can blend into society and be a human basically. As for why the shadowlord wants this im not sure, but maybe he eventually wants to capture the whole nearby village and just being in control of everyone. Now let me glaze emilico and Kate more, their bond is so peak, I think my fav scene was at the top of the tower where Kate used her wings to fly off and then when her wings were failing, Emilico helped her, perfect reflection of their bond and it was just such a hype scene.
The star bearers are interesting, im not really sure what purpose they serve, they are like the advisers of the childrens wing whilst also being children themselves, im guessing they are the top prime candidates for taking over their humans. Also shoutout to Rum, I was wondering what the little shadow was helping them out, it didnt click with me that it was her helping out until they showed her. Im glad they showed her because I think she has a role to play still. Oh and I forgot to mention I love the decision of not kicking Edward out of the house, the second chance is perfect because he will develop the kids and their bonds stronger. I am not sure why the Shadowlord gave him another chance, theres definitely some ulterior motive behind it. I also forgot to mention that the way I see this is, our main group of kids is pushing the concept of shadows and humans coexisting together by being friends whereas the adults have the concept of capturing the humans and using their bodies to replace them - fucking amazing concept. Cant glaze this enough, such a me anime
