My Review of "The Brilliant Healer’s New Life in the Shadows"!

These healer anime recently have just been hitting different for me.
Story
Zenos, an unknowingly powerful healer, was kicked out of the guild he was in for “not contributing to the team.” After being gifted a gold coin, Zenos opens up an underground clinic in the slums to offer his services to outcasts. Although he tries his hardest to stay unknown, his unbelievable medical feats begin to gain popularity not just in the slums, but even in the royal palace, which gets him into more trouble than he could’ve expected.
Characters
Zenos is a fair and reserved overpowered healer. Although unaware of how rare his abilities are, Zenos continues to heal people who come to him for a fair price. In the past, Zenos saved a little elf girl named Lily. She assists Zenos when she can with her mostly friendly attitude as an assistant to her clinic. In the clinic is a friendly and sometimes silly wraith named Carmilla who awaits for Zenos to feed her souls (if he ever fails/botches a patient’s recovery).
The Good
I like the story. It takes the MC through different scenarios not just in one setting, but in a couple different ones with multiple situations that are all interesting (some more than others). I also enjoyed the personalities of the characters. Although the three underground leaders were pretty identical by behaviors, they were still fun people to watch and Carmilla was also a silly and chaos-causing wraith. Zenos’ ideals of equal treatment while also not forgetting payments is also a fun feature of his that I found funny at times too.
The Bad
Episode 1 was a really bad episode. It gave little to no explanations and prioritized side characters over the actual MC of the story. However, episode 2 was able to help this show recover by feeling more like the first episode than the actual first episode. I see where they’re coming from, but I just don’t think that his whole “female harem” thing going on in his underground clinic. I feel like they could’ve had at least one of the three underground leaders as a male. On a more serious note, I felt uncomfortable watching Lily and Zenos interact. Lily seeing Zenos as a “husband” while she looks like a literal child is kinda disgusting. It’s fortunately not a really strong element of the anime, but I hate whenever it’s brought up.
format(webp))The Downright Ugly
Apart from the disrespect to Zenos in his old guild, ain’t anything downright ugly about this anime.
.jpg)Is It Worth The Watch?
Although I wouldn’t say that this is the best healer anime out there, I still think that this anime is worth the watch. I think that it’s fun and interesting enough to enjoy despite the dynamic between Lily and Zenos.
Thank you for taking the time to read my review. I hope this helped you with your decision on whether to watch this anime or not! If you already have watched it, I hope that you can agree with me with some of the points I made. If you enjoyed this review, I would greatly appreciate a follow too! ^^
