Make the exorcist fall in love is an amazing manga that show a lot of issues with society and make the audience think a lot about the story.
Priest [mc] is a young man who's been taught by the church from a young age and ~tortured and forced~ to become an exorcist who can match satan. The church saw his power and thought that if they could control it, then they'd be able to use him to defeat satan.
Satan knows of the boy's power very early on so he had imuri [FL] seduce the boy.
There's a lot of things to be said about this manga, and I believe that a lot of this manga is very grey. No character is an NPC that doesn't think for themself, and very early on the manga depicts signs of abuse, problems with incels and toxic masculinity through one of the enemies [one of the 7 deadly sins/demon lords]
The romance is very good but this manga I believe while it has some romance, the manga is more drama/action first then romance 2nd as it shows a lot of problems with the way priest-kun has been brought up. Keep in mind that in the main storyline, Priest-kun is only 16/17 even though he might look younger. This means that a lot of the things that the church has done to the priest is morally grey at best and if you look at the earliest signs [which is from chapter 1] it's horrible what they've done to priest
Now add to that the fact that he's burdened with the responsibility of being the "strongest exorcist" while all of the adults around him are ignorant or care not for his well-being, and you get a fucked up teenager. Imuri is a good pair for him considering that they're both pretty much the same age if not imuri being a little older.
I do not want to spoil the manga a lot more, but it is very easy to sympathize with the ML and some of the enemies' struggles. You can kind of see why they turned out the way they did, except for some people. Now, would I recommend this if you are religious? Yes. If you're not religious i'd still recommend it due to how good the storytelling and worldbuilding is.
Simply put, the mc was brainwashed when he was younger to become a servant of the church to defeat demon lords and satan. The enemies of this manga also aren't completely terrible as you're [sometimes] shown their side of the story, that doesn't mean they're not evil, it just means you know a bit of where they're coming from, which makes the story and the characters more fleshed out, and makes you understand why they become the way they are. Priest-kun is also too young to be dealing with all of this BS i swear to god
Also, You know how the MC isn't named at all? He's literally just called "father" or "priest". It has to be one of the most anticipated moment of the series. The fact that this manga doesn't give the main character a name, and instead leaves it out for later is very telling. He has to be someone relevant to the bible or the ars goetia considering how strong he is.
Would recommend 10/10 if you love any of: romance, philosophy, religion, action, drama
Would not recommend if you're not into: thinking
