My Review of "The Shy Hero and the Assassin Princesses"!

The Hero Has Fallen Unconscious!Story
This story follows the powerful hero, Toto. Despite his power, his inability to converse with others has left him unable to form a party. (Un)fortunately, three women invite him to join their party, which he accepts gratefully. What he doesn’t know, however, is that all 3 women want to kill him for different motives. These women have to keep their identities a secret as they work as Toto’s party members and go on adventures with him.
Characters
Toto is a very durable and strong fighter. He can kill a lot of monsters with just one punch. His only weakness? His extreme shyness. He faints at the touch of a woman, which his party members take advantage of. Anemone, one of the girls, is an assassin disguised as a priest who was tasked to kill him for money. Another girl, Ciel, was tasked to kill him for her independence and to become successor to the undead throne. Goa actually doesn’t want to kill Toto, but just to make him one of her romantic slaves.
The Good
I really like the idea of this show. Three assassins and a shy hero unaware of their true identities? Sounds like a fun concept. To be fair, it was done well in my opinion. Each character felt unique enough that it didn’t feel like 3 clones of the same person. They all had their own specialities. Anemone was great with physical weapons like guns, Ciel was good with dark magic, and Goa was good with poison. I did find it funny that Toto would literally tank any attempt of assassination that any of the girls would throw at him. Even when it wasn’t the girls, I found it a bit amusing that he could one-shot any of the monsters he fought without stat boosts and even with debuffs.
The Bad
This show isn’t deep with lore. It’s very barebones with what it gives about each character, not really expanding too much on everyone’s lore except for a few people. I wish it did though, because I feel like I would’ve connected with the characters more if they just had more lore explored. I wasn’t too much of a fan of the fanservice (crazy, right?) but I do understand its purpose. Without the fanservice, the show would not have had a lot of passing out from Toto which was needed to have the girls communicate. I think that the finale was a bit underwhelming because of the small conflict it resolved, but I guess there wasn’t really any better option because of the lack of antagonists in this show (although there were a few).
The Downright Ugly
I don’t think there was anything downright ugly with this anime.
Is It Worth The Watch?
Uhm…. I don’t think it’s a must watch. This show definitely isn’t going to be for everyone. Personally, I thought it was a decent show. I could’ve done without a good amount of the fanservice, but I do understand its purpose towards the plot. I wouldn’t mind if there’s a season 2 for this, but I also wouldn’t mind if there isn’t a season 2 in the future.
