This anime has a strange story, connecting love and drool makes sense but to completely make it the point of the anime is odd, however;
The episodic serialized narrative wherein each episode contains different plots (most times pretty sexual) is another point to add as it fills in on the story of both protagonists whilst keeping the story fresh.
Onto the review;
The anime from the start was exciting, starting off with Akira Tsubaki tasting drool off a girl's table (?), that being Mikoto Urabe, who somehow knows about drool connecting others (A pretty loose end that wasn't explained, but nevertheless used as a plot device).
After this, Tsubaki starts to get withdrawal symptoms from the drool due to it's sweetness, missing the school day, thus leading to Urabe going to his house to confront him about how drool connects others.
The start of the story keeps you hooked as you'd like to see where this strange story goes, as it's unique and interesting.
Some of the plots can be weird and sometimes even creepy to a regular viewer's standpoint, but that's it's strength, as it brings in multiple characters that get dragged into this ordeal to expand on the story even more.
As the story goes on, most times the drool as an example that they can feel each others emotions whenever they taste their drool, making their love far less secretive than normal; of course this will also affect their relationship as some things should be hidden, but regardless its a good use of this part of the story.
After reading the manga, this anime (and its OVA) seems to cover half of the total amount of chapters, and reading it extensively has shown me many things about this story;
Onto the anime itself, the art style is pretty different compared to that of its time.
The pacing is pretty good as it keeps a fine-line of keeping you on your toes and hoping for more and just being bored of how long the story takes.
The themes of drool and being a high school romance means many things, mainly being that love is strange especially for younger people.
My final verdict, its bizarre, and at most even creepy, i admit this anime is not for everyone but if you are interested in something new and unique compared to the anime nowadays, you should definitely give this a watch.
